Andy, I'm new to all this still. This is probably a stupid question...how do I know that I have the most current MikG? The about section on my phone says MikG Sense 2.1 RC1

RC1 is the version number. looks like mikg just came out with 2.0.

I am wondering this same thing. I kind of want to get into building a theme, so i am trying to find a rom I love and stick with it. But so many new roms keep coming out every day.

Virus' rom always seems to get good reviews and both his and MikG's roms seem to be the base for a lot of other guys out there, so that should tell me something I guess. I am liking kingsrom alliance and shifted evolution which i believe are both based of one or both of these roms, can't remember.

I love sense 3.0 stuff, but I am also hearing CM7 can get some crazy battery life. I've DL'd it, but haven't tried it yet, pretty sure I have tried all the rest except for MikG, I usually seem to go for one of the roms that uses his base. But I might have to try 2.0

i really love cm7/tiamat combo best battery life by far out of anything i tried in the past. and cm7 is a great rom. aosp roms do take more tweaking and fixing, but once you get past that then you are in like butter.

however, i also really like the kingdom rom right now. so much so that im willing to wait for a custom kernel to come out and have a so so battery life. i need try out the latest mikg and the latest king roms that just came out. too many to flash and with too little time to do it. but i have to feed my addiction.

I got VirusROMs Kingdom to work just fine on my phone recently. I really love the ROM and everything works. At this point, I'm done flashing the Evo. I get the 3D later this week and this one will be going to the wife. It isn't so technical that she can't use it (speaking of the ROM), so this is a perfect scenario.

well with aosp roms, you do not have a battery hog called sense. so a launcher like luancher pro(which i love) should not be an issue. plus there are a ton of themes out there for cm7. plus launcher pro is very customizable and you can always make it look different if you want. with cm7 and tiamat kernel i get anywhere to 20-35 hours of light to moderate use.

I want to make a star wars theme for my phone. Thats why I am trying to pick 1 rom. If I went with cm7 I would likely use launcher pro or maybe go launcher, I hear they are both good.

What part of sense drains the battery? Cause like I said, I really enjoy the look of sense and will likely buy beautiful widgets if I go with cm7, just to get some of that look back. But will that drain my battery just like using sense would?

Yeah I have been following granites thread. Mario/Nintendo was a 2nd theme idea I had. But after seeing some of the notification bar icons in this theme [Theme]Star Wars for LibertyX 1.0 - xda-developers
I really want to do something like that. Launcher pro doesn't give access to those right? For that kind of stuff I am guessing you need to edit the framework.

Maybe I need to look for some cm7 themes or setups people use.

yeah looks like frame work stuff and not launcher pro. i would pm granite or post on his thread and see if the notification bar can be pulled out and re-assembled to your theme.

I have had the best battery with 3.3.8 but some have good luck with the 4.x series also.

Flash your rom, reboot, then reboot to recovery. Wipe Davlik-cache and cache, then flash the kernel and reboot. CM7 has governor settings in CM Settings. I think Tiamat defaults to Smartass which is my preference also.

I have had the best battery with 3.3.8 but some have good luck with the 4.x series also.

I tried to find some info on this online while waiting for your reply and it seems like a lot of people are against sbc saying it can kill your battery.

I didn't have time to set up CM7 last night so I flashed virus rom again today. Battery life sucked for some reason.

I am starting to really like kingsrom alliance. He is updating very quickly. First sense 2.1/3.0 rom that I know of with working netflix

Thanks. Sure I will try sbc assuming I can make myself take the time to customize CM7
