is the Huawei Ascend Offical 2.2 Update download real ?

Someone has already released a Froyo 2.2 rom. Only thing is mms doesn't work yet but everything else does. There workin on a fix for that.

No it is not yet available. Nobody has the official version because it hasn't been released to any. These other versions people are downloading are not the Official Upgrade from Huawei. I am going to wait for the official version.

First of all...that blog that came out about the 2.2.1 update was real but the guy stole the file from us and reposted it..I was the first person to ever have 2.2.1 on my ascend and have data wifi and txt to work..but MMS was failing..then a person named Dark found another version of the same software I had that wasn't in Chinese by default so he released it thats when the dude jacked the file and reposted it as his .. The 2.2.1 update is really made for the phone u8500 not our m860 but works fine on the phone with a few bugs that are trying to be worked on by me and darklg at this time and a few others..
if you go to myascend.org and read under dev section you will see our post that are original that we have found this first..also when I spoke to huawie my self they said march 16th they will release an 2.2 update..hope this explain some stuff...thanks

Someone made a thread on how to install it. I was going to install it myself but the instructions just disappeared and i can\\\'t find them anymore. I was like halfway done and couldn\\\'t finish the instruction thread, so I had to flash the recovery ROM.The thread was fairly new, only one member had replied to it, Jazziete but suddenly it diasappeared.

The 'new' member that posted that was a previously banned member trying to return under a new name. Did you get your phone working again?

I was able to get the working version of the firmware and it works great. I haven't had any issues!
I also have written and given all the links and explained it all step by step!
So if you want to upgrade your firmware look no further.

This is an unofficial version!!!!
BUT...

I have it currently on my huawei ascend m860 and don't have any problems.
everything works, phone, text, internet, wifi, i mean you name it.

All I have to say is. Go ahead and do it. If you don't like it you can always restore your phone to the way it was before by doing a nandroid backup.

Then it is easy to restore!!!

I think I'll be smart and just wait for an official update, if one is released, rather than installing a possibly wonky update and winding up with a crippled phone. Why are people so impatient about this? If the phone doesn't run the way you wanted, why did you buy it in the first place?

The rom does feel crippled after icarus1.1

Tokenpoke, let me ask you this, I rooted my phone and installed Rom Manager and flashed to 3.0.0.5 CWM. I tried the jinky 2.2 and it only partly ran, couldn't get APN to come up without force closure.

If I have CWM 3.0.0.5 can I still go to Icarus or do I have to change my CWM?

Some people have used 3.0 without problems and some people had problems with it. But 2.5 works and there is a link to it on the 2nd or 3rd post in the Icarus thread.

Use 2.5 you can flas froyo with it too.

Froyo worked fine for me until uim error because of metamorph. I flashed with 2.5 back and forth from froyo to icarus eight total flashes yesterday. No big snags.

Hey I downloaded the 2.2 update (runs beautifully now) BUT my phone will not make any sounds since doing so, I can hear alerts,alarms,calls,music with headphones but nothing comes out of the speaker. No clue what to do. Can anyone help?

goosfraba... lol. and yes, i just watched Anger Management again. but seriously... have you tried the skyfire browser or any other browser. if you have and they didn't work for you. then you can always flash back to 2.1 with metro stock scripts. you won't have 2.2.2 but you'll get your music and porn back. i'm pretty sure you can find the stock scripts somewhere in this forum. if not, i'll create a link for you.

edit: After some investigation i think i figured out your problem. it seems that you will only get the download options when you are connected to the internet through wifi. for some reason the options disappear when your not. at least that how it works with my phone after upgrading to 2.2.2. hope this helps.
