Full Multitouch coming?

Right, just like the hackers that finally let the iPhone catch up with Android.

yes and no...

the iphone works perfectly well without multitasking; most people are happy having their ipod on while they're doing other things.......the hackers of iphone just added icing on the cake.

android phones suck without multitouch.

in a nutshell: iphone users needed multitasking way way way less than android users needed multitouch. can u deny that?

Absolutely, I rarely used multi touch, but multitask constantly. It's one of the reason's I terminated my AT&T contract early and tossed my iphone away.

What I am sick of is people making excuses for google cowering to apple. It's like when people said the iphone didn't need MMS because you can send pictures via email...apologists are everywhere.

I don't care about multitouch in the browser personally, but think it is a shame it isn't in the maps app where it is really useful.

Also, not having multi-touch on the keyboard is a real shame. People can say it again and again and again that the keyboard is multi-touch, I heard leo laporte say it too, but IT IS NOT MULTITOUCH. Hold down one key and then hit another, it does not work. On the iphone it does, and is what makes the typing experience much better.

The iPhone DOES multitask. Apple applications do run in the background. Its 3rd party apps that have their context saved and are killed/restarted on command.

You are bat shit crazy.
MT keyboards and pinch and zoom enabled browsers and picture gallery have been available since android 1.6....available to all.

Multitasking is the single most important feature of a smartphone.
Without it you are crippled and limited in functionality.Half of what could be getting done never gets done.

To compare its necessity to a pinch and zoom function is showing either absolute bias or absolute ignorance.
Considering your history I'd say your a lot of both.

There is no reason that I can see that emulators and games cannot incorporate multi-touch. The feature is there for developers to use.

Let's get this straight once and for all:

THE NEXUS ONE IS A MULTI-TOUCH DEVICE. GOOGLE CHOOSE NOT TO INCORPORATE THE FEATURE IN NATIVE APPS SHIPPED ON THE PHONE. DEVELOPERS CAN USE IT!

I'm sure the reasons will come out eventually. Maybe Apple have such a strong patent in the US that Google cannot incorporate because of how much it would cost them in compensation and redevelopment etc etc...

and you are bat shit delusional. MT IS NOT AVAILABLE in ANDROID because when you take an android phone out of the box in the u.s, MT IS NOT ENABLED; you heard what i said? here i go again: AMERICAN ANDROID PHONES DONT HAVE MT!!!!! your statement regarding 1.6 (MT there but disabled) is the lame statement of a lame apologist.

also, you are a geek. most people are average users who dont go around multitasking. so YOU ARE WRONG: multitasking is not the most important feature of a smart phone; if it was, the iphone would not even be half as successfull as it is today; it's performance and apps silly, which android sucks at, and you know it.

to have your attitude towards those who criticize android is showing either absolute arrogance or absolute denial.
considering your history i'd say your a lot of both; after all, from your previous posts you do consider 90% of N1 users to be morons.

now go and try to find a decent android timer app or some good hacker who'd help you enable that disabled MT capability; while you're at it, ask the hacker to come up with a decent keyboard and maybe a system that has less FC popups. .....and please spare me the attitude. this is a public forum. i post whatever i want and you're not smarter than anyone here....

yes i agree let's get this straight once and for all:

THE NEXUS ONE, LIKE ALL OTHER U.S ANDROID PHONES IS NOT A MULTI-TOUCH DEVICE BECAUSE GOOGLE CHOOSE NOT TO INCORPORATE THE FEATURE IN NATIVE APPS SHIPPED ON THE PHONE. DEVELOPERS CAN USE IT.

SO THE TAKE HOME MESSAGE IS THIS: YOUR N1 PHONES ARE NOT MULTITOUCH PHONES. THEY ARE NOT. THEY ARE NOT. THEY ARE NOT. stop the BS! for all intents and purposes an american android phone lacks multitouch, period. accept it.

If you hate all of android so much then why the hell are you here?

Seriously, i just switched from an iphone, after using it for 2+ years and i would not go back. why come to an ANDROID forum and push your biased views on ANDROID users, there are plenty of iPhone forums for you to go and troll. I had all 3 versions of the iphone, and the N1 is a better phone. MT is there in dolphin, the only thing i find lacking is the copy and paste feature. all other facets of the N1 perform better in my opinion but i dont go to iphone forums and post this because no one there cares, just like we dont care you have a hard on for apple

<blah> (caps are ugly)

The whole point of Android is that it is customisable. For a lot of users, multi-touch is not the be all and end all. For those that it is, they can go to the market and download a couple of apps in a couple of seconds to allow for multi-touch features.

To me at least that doesn't seem like an impossibly difficult or strenuous task. The phone works perfectly well as it should out of the box. If you want added features, go ahead and download them.

No, it is because their patent is shit, but google is still willing to blow steve jobs. Explain to me then why Palm hasn't had the crap sued out of it then, or how about HTC, or really any developer who would incorporate multitouch, the problem was a google executive being on apples board and having a conflicting interest, now that he is off of it, maybe things will change. I love android, but google is really starting to piss me off. Maybe they should just sign over the rights to android to HTC who would probably do a lot more with it.

I have to say I completely disagree with you. Multitouch is nice, but you cannot compare it to multitasking. The lack of multitasking on the iphone is a killer for me. The fact that you had to wait with your SMS app open until AT&T's crappy network sent a text message through is just unacceptable. Having to close down websites and apps just to go read a quick e-mail made me want to throw my phone against a wall sometimes.

Pinch/Zoom is replaceable, the zoom buttons do a fine job, I actually think I like them better because zooming can be done easily with one hand. I don't miss multi touch on the keyboard either. Besides, I can usually just speak what I want to type anyway.
