Now then... I think it's about time I changed from CM7.

To be honest, I've not had any problems with it... I wanted to give each ROM I try a fair crack of the whip (so to speak) and I think that 6/8 weeks is long enough for me to say that it's pretty good.

I haven't had any issues (WIFI/force close/etc), but wanna try another - who knows... I may end up going back to it once I've tried a few!

I have seen on here that there are different possibilities, but want someone to tell me which one to go for (and why)

Well as you know the only one I have tried is ARHD 5.1.10 and think is brilliant a present. Top thing for me is that the phone is all round quicker and battery life seems a bit better too. It looks 99% the same as the original htc rom so this was a bonus for me as I didnt want one that look too different. Flashed to Sense 3.0 all in one pack and it still runs awesome, give it a shot!

Nice one Randles! Is Sense 3.0 better than Sense 2.x?

There are a few that I've seen and fancied giving a go - LeeDroid, ARHD, CM7 (done this one now though) and maybe MIUI (although I have heard that, although it's good, it's not as good as the others)... just wondered if there were any others worth a look in!

I stuck ARHD on about an hour and a half ago and so far it's been the most painful setup of the lot. Market keeps crashing and I've had a fair few force closes. Also, none of the apps appear to want to download, meaning I'm having to manually restore via astro and Titanium.

After a few reboots it's getting better though so I'll see how it is at the end of the day. I'm not impressed at the moment though....

Might hold off on ARHD... at least until you update on how you get on!

Also, I already know your thoughts on LeeDroid... leaning towards that at the moment! :)

I'm restoring my LeeDroid backup just now. I can't install anything via the market, it just keeps telling my download has been unsuccessful.

I don't have time to try and sort at the moment so it's easier to restore a working ROM from backup and then have another go with ARHD when I've got a bit of time on my hands.

ARHD is a good ROM seemingly, Randles can confirm that, I've just not had a particularly good initial experience with it.

Yeah - prob best move for you for now!

I know that people seemingly have different experiences of the same ROM on the same handset, which is a little strange. I know you had a few force closes with CM7, but I can't really remember having any myself (maybe one, but I thought it was down to the app, not the ROM).

Quite surprised to read this

Crazy! I havent had one single problem with mine. Everything worked right away with no hassle at all.

I know what you mean... I am surprised too...

What do you get though? Are there noticable changes/new things to it?

Yeah you can have the weather on the lock screen, the way you unlock the phone is a bit different, you can pick 4 apps and put them on your lock screen for quick access so you dont have to unlock your phone to launch them, sms looks much better it looks very much like the iphone but instead of speech bubbles you get like square looking speech boxes and an advanced power menu - Thats all I can think of at the moment :) if I think of more I'll post them.

Sounds interesting... will defo have a look @ Sense 3.0 (didn't really know what all the fuss was about, as have been using CM7, which is a vanilla android ROM)!

I know you had a few force closes with CM7, but I can't really remember having any myself (maybe one, but I thought it was down to the app, not the ROM).

Gmail and battery use were the main force closes and they were both used quite regularly. I also found the brightness settings pointless. Even with it set to auto, it would switch itself to full for no reason. There were other minor issues too, but I can't remember all of them.

To be fair, I would've sorted if I'd had time, it was just easier to restore a backlup of a ROM I knew as working. I'll have a mess about later.

I tried ARHD for a few days this week as I fancied a change. Have gone back to CM7, but am now running the nightlies :)

Personally I would recommend leedroid over ARHD, but that just be because of the FCs I got ...

Nice one - thanks for the input dojon!!

Think I'm gonna go for LeeDroid to start with - will have to wait until I get in this evening though!

I'm trying leedroid out atm. It seems smoother than ARHD, and it has sense 3 desktop transitions if you install the sense 3.0 extra. Sense 3.0 extra also has the sense 3.0 weather widget, and some other widgets like photo grid which i don't think ARHD had. Leedroid just feels better, for me anyway.

Installed it last night and, after an initial install problem, it seemed fine... I think though, I'm gonna have to continue this post in my problems installing LeeDroid thread... hit a problem again! :(
