Root Cannot remove Bluetooth pairing

Hi, hope that I am posting this in the correct place.

I have a HTC Desire that I have rooted, and installed CyanogenMod 7 onto, and then restored my setting from Sence 2.2 using Titanium Backup.

All seems to work just fine, but I am having a big problem with the Bluetooth connecting to my hands-free car kit.

The phone will not connect to the cars hands-free kit, even though it is visible in the Bluetooth settings on the phone. I tried have unpairing it, but it keeps coming back. I tried unpairing it and rebooting the phone, but again......it returns.

I have also changed the name of the hands-free car kit in the car from "TOYOTA" to "TOYOTA1", but the phone keeps coming back with "TOYOTA" in the list on the Bluetooth, and when I scan for new devices it does not list the new name of "TOYOTA1".

I suspect that when I restored the settings with Titanium Backup, it has somehow restored the bluetooth setting somewhere that CyanogenMod 7 is picking up, but will not allow it to remove.

Is there somewhere that these settings are stores that I can go to and delete?

Any advice and assistance would be appreciated.

You could try deleting the bluetooth pairings in Titanium, I guess (make a backup first, I've never tried this!)

As a general rule, when changing ROMs it is better to use Titanium to restore user apps only, except where it is really essential to restore data. Otherwise odd things can happen.

If I delete the Bluetooth pairings in Titanium, how would I restore the Bluetooth pairings to their default without having to re-install CM7?

Would it be possible to delete the pairing by deleting or renaming /data/misc/bluetoothhd/?

Well, as I say, I've never done this, but if you delete it and it breaks something (ie. removes something you need to make the pairing rather than just wiping the data), you could then do an app-only restore of that one entry with Titanium. By "default Bluetooth pairings" you mean no pairings set up yet, right?

You can also just freeze things with Titanium (paid version anyway).

Yep by "default Bluetooth pairings" I do mean no pairing set up. I will give it a go tonight when I get home, and let you know how I get on.

I just checked the Bluetooth Settings Storage entry in Titanium and it has a "wipe data" option right there, so things are simpler than I thought.

I'm stumped then - the info must be getting stored somewhere else. Maybe "Bluetooth Pairings" as well as "Settings/Bluetooth..."? Or are you sure part of the name isn't just being cut off at 6 letters somehow at the car end, so it always appears as Toyota when you scan for devices?

I decided that the best way to sort this problem out was to format the system and data, and re-install CM7.Then reinstalled applications from Titanium.

The bluetooth now works fine.

When I reinstalled all setting from 2.2 to 2.3, this must have caused the problem.

Glad you got it sorted! Very weird things can happen unless you're very careful about what you restore with Titanium. I have good luck if I check "app only" and then go back later to restore data just for three or four apps that need their current state saved, like games in progress. And of course, system data must never be restored, just user data.
