Root Trouble installing Xrecovery on Xperia X8

I just managed to root my Xperia X8 2.1 update1 (model E15i) sucessfully using :

  • SuperOneClick
  • SuperUser is installed
  • Installed Busybox V 1.17.1 from market
  • Installed Root explorer
  • Did everything exactly how this guy here(see the link below) says to do i.e copying the 3 files to System/bin folder
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ls10Og6W89s&NR=1

Now when i try to reboot my fone, i keep pressing the back key but it boots up in normal mode  :(
I dont know which part i am doing wrong!!! iv tried it quite a few time and im really frustrated of being just 1 (or 2 3 ) steps away from being able to install a custom ROM to my cell :(
Serious help needed. Really looking forward to hearing from someone PLEASE!!!!

ThanQ

Sorry OP no idea here - i'm having the same problem. Everything installed, copied and permissions set as shown in video but cannot access xrecovery.

hi,
If you are trying to install xRecovery on another brand of phone it will not work.

If you are using an Xperia X8 and have done everything on the video it should work.
There only 2 things to look out for.

1) you have not rooted your phone successfully
2) you have "installed" the wrong version of xRecovery.

Solution:
1) follow this link...
here or here

2) make sure you have xRecovery-0.1 NOT any other version (version 0.2-0.3) does not work.

cheers :)

Hi,

when you go back to "normal 2.1" it means the official SE software?
If that is the case you have to Root & install xRecovery all over again.

cheers :)

when i want to get permissions from xRecovey and i cek all the boxes and klik ok.... this message apears "warning, permissions change was not successful. please not that some file system (e.g. SD card) do not allow permissions changes."
what should i do??
