Hi there! Welcome to the forums!

Please see the following post http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-all-things-root/354749-how-root-install-custom-rom-desire-hd.html (from the top of the "Desire HD - All Things Root" section)

It is a comprehensive list of all links and how to's

:)

EDIT - if you have any more questions once you've read El P's post, feel free to ask - as I said, it is pretty comprehensive!

If you find his thread useful, don't forget to click thanks!!

hi, i did this for the first time yesterday so im in the same boat as you.
if it helps, its not too difficult, you just need to know what ur doing.

start with reading: http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-all-things-root/354749-how-root-install-custom-rom-desire-hd.html

if ur handset is branded, you will need a goldcard first. go to How To Make Gold Card for HTC Desire HD and follow the tutorial.
then you will have to use gingerbreak and downgrade to froyo to root. all of the info should be in the first thread i linked to, if u need more info feel free to ask questions.

something not mentioned in most tutorials, if when trying to run gingerbreak through adb you get error or fail messages (mine came up like 40 times in a row before i unplugged), just reboot your phone and try again. i would recommend rebooting it just before you attempt to gingerbreak and run the commands through cmd. rebooting it once did the trick for me, it takes some people 3-4 goes.

damit - too slow lol

having just completed flashing leedroid rom to my DHD, ive gotta say go for it mate. its all about subtle differences you wish htc would have thought about. like extra settings in quick settings to clear up your homescreen from settings widgets and save going through menus.

and it gets easier the more you do, the first bits are by far the hardest (and once youve done them youll realise they're not that hard themselves). theres a fair bit to do, but if you take your time, and read things through, it is defo worth it.

goiod luck.

Hii guys..
In the link [GUIDE] How to downgrade 1.7x/1.8x/2.x to 1.32.405.6 - xda-developers
it is mentioned that the phones with s/w number 2.37 can't be downgraded yet.
Even the visionARY+ app isn't working properly.
Please suggest me some other ways to root my phone.
Thanks in advance :)

Regards,
sagar.

Ooooooh... I think you might have to wait a while if you are on 2.37... I am not sure that the method has been cracked for that yet!

EDIT - I know you didn't want to hear that!

If you hang on, it's quite likely that someone who has a bit more knowledge on Android will reply!

Sagar - having had a quick google on the subject, please see the following links (which mention the build you have - 2.37):

[Q] HTC Desire HD - Can't Downgrade from Gingerbread to 1.32.405.6 - xda-developers

[REQUEST] 2.37 downgrade.. - CyanogenMod Forum (don't think this person got any replies)

How to downgrade Desire HD 2.37.707.3 Android 2.3.3 to Android 2.2 - xda-developers (there is a link from within this thread that says it is not possible at the moment - dated 10 days ago)

I know that this is not the news you wanted, but at least you know where you stand!

Thanks for the info D-U-R-X.
Hope, you would let me know any further information regarding downgrading 2.3.3 with s/w number 2.37.720.3, when the downgrade is available.
Thanks again mate. :)

No problemo Sagar... I will put a post in here if/when I hear that it is possible to downgrade from 2.37.

Keep a look out on Android Forums/the net in general though... always worth keeping an eye out, as I may miss it (I'm already rooted, so won't necessarily look for it)!

Hii sandeep..
Have you upgraded our phone to gingerbread, before you rooted it.. ??

hey,
i did upgrade to gingerbread roughly a month before rooting. i didnt check the software version number before doing so, just sorta jumped into it, but at least your version looks hopeful now. with anything its always just a case of waiting, someone's bound to crack your version at some point.
