Root HELP, Im One Big Dummy

I know nothing about how to even proceed with rooting my phone [lg ally], I have read countless threads about rooting, trying to find help (that I can understand) I am hoping some one can point me in the right direction and speak to me in a language I can understand.(I am completely illiterate when it comes to technology, terms, procedures, abbreviations, etc). I want to root my phone, but I would like to understand what it is I am supposed to do first. Can/will any one help me?:thinking:

Well, the best way to root is not the easiest. The easier roots like SuperOnceClick and GingerBreak do root the phone, but they're not recommended. There is a guide by Trident that I will link here. If you need help at any point in the guide, hit up the link in my sig for the Ally IRC. There will be people there who can help.

If you have no idea what you are doing I say just download superoneclick and let it do the dirty work for you. You can also find a video tutorial on the unlocker.com. The ally is my first android device and I rooted using this method without doing any research first. I later learned its not the recommended way to obtain root but I have not noticed any adverse affects from it. Again I dont know a whole lot about how this works this was just my experience.

the "adverse effects" are not things you will EVER notice in day to day use. the "problem" with one click roots has NOTHING to do with the program or the "root" attained and on other phones (like HTC devices where you can get s=off other ways) it really DOESN'T MATTER. but on the ally, it does and the problem is here

this quote is one of a few i personally remember. but it DOES happen. probably wont but could. so why not have fastboot just in case, rather than kicking yourself later cuz you wanted "easy" now

I ran a fix permissions with rom manager today, and I rebooted my phone. Now, it is stuck in a boot loop, and I can't find any way to access recovery.

I have a sick feeling in my stomach that my phone is done for good.

Someone please help.

Edit: after some more looking around, the only thing I can think of that may be the problem is that I set my oc to set at boot because it seemed very stable. I don't know why that would screw with my recovery, so this must be a separate issue.

you get any one of a thousand issues and cause a bootloop and your recovery gets messed up. something as simple as an unstable clock speed, bad theme, corrupt DL of a ROM or theme.

no fastboot=possible/probable brick
fastboot=VERY EASY save
