User Reviews + first impressions

Everybody is getting thanks in this thread! Better join the fun. lol :p

But seriously, I'm glad that we finally have a customer's review on this phone. I've been reading a bunch of reviews but it's not what I expected from this phone. But I read this, and I was glad that the phone was much better then I expected. Thanks YFM, for relieving me. :D

I was actually just thinking about it. It actually gets pretty warm just from normal use, but it doesn't get a whole lot warmer when you do more labor intensive things.
I get mine on friday, do you like the phone? overall review out of 10 thus far? do you have any kind of root yet?(soft root) would you recomment this phone to others?

I like it a lot! It seems to get better signal than my Evo 4G, it's SO MUCH FASTER (realize that this is a qualitative analysis :p). I love the camera button. I love the 3D.

I don't really care for the 2D/3D slider. It's too stiff, and seems too single purposed. I imagine that's largely personal preference though. My biggest issue so far is really the development of 3D content for the device. Blockbuster, HTC Watch, and Gameloft really dropped the ball as far as indicating what is 3D content. I have a 3D phone! That means I want to get some cool 3D stuff to play with. But I have yet to figure out how to differentiate between content types. Also, I still can't get The Green Hornet to play. It hangs on a downloading license dialog box. Others have had it work right away for them, though, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

And I haven't rooted. I don't really plan to yet. I don't want to risk losing any of the unique functionality of the phone, and I also want to stay true to the trial program who gave me the phone. I think they're looking for honest feedback about the stock phone.

Assigning a rating is tough. I really like the phone, but I'm not sure if the 3D content issue is really something I can attribute to the phone. It definitely makes for a lesser user experience, so I'd probably give it 8/10.

P.S. Youtube, on the other hand, is great about indicating 3D content! I've been watching so many pointless videos...

its a shiny new toy, we will all love it and oohh and ahhh over it for a few days.. possibly a week. then after the novelty wears off, the issues some cant stand will pop up here. typical wash/rinse/repeat cycle. i enjoy the evo to this day and have only used maybe 40% of what it can do after all this time. i just like gadgets and am an early adopter of tech.

this 3d version of the evo will not save the world nor will it rescue a cat from a burning building, but its a pretty cool gadget with some cool gimmicks to hold us over until the next flavor appears..

What rating did you give your EVO 4G?

Thanks! Getting warm is just the nature of computers. I just feel like I could fry an egg on my DX if I run a game for 20 minutes.
