I will be getting rid of this piece of junk as soon as possible. The phone has been the worst phone I have owned. Battery Life is horrible, had to have screen replaced twice, gingerbread is a big let down. Apps crash the phone constantly. Heading back to an Iphone as soon as a new one is released. You may not like apple but there phone and os destroys android. I had a lot of hope and wanted android to be better but its getting to fragmented and just lousy. Pulled my evo of of the charger at 6:30 this morning took 4 calls and moderately cruised the internet and it was dead at 2:15. Ohh and bye the way don't even think of turning on 4g.

I say most people don't experience what you do.
Must be the bad luck you have over you.
Wouldn't want to be near you that's for sure...

Lol. Brother and a good friend both have the phone and they don't have as many problems as I but both agree that battery life is a huge issue and they both will be getting rid of when there contract is up. Everybody has different opinions and I am glad I have a choice but as far as I am concerned on a 1-10 scale 10 being the best.

Evo 5
Iphone 8 (would be 9 or 10 if bigger screen)

Android OS 4
IOS 8

There are battery settings & apps that eliminate all of this.
It's a fallacy that Android phones eat battery.

MANY people who go to work & school get a ~ 8-12 hours of use out of it esp. with new GB update.
That's a 9-9 day for some. Can't ask for anymore than that.
Those that don't get that much juice are either not informed or haven't asked how to here.

You can see the # of battery life complaints have gone down to only those that are usually newer owners or newer posters who have never visited here.

I agree there are settings that will allow for better battery life and back when I first purchased the phone I was all over these forums trying to learn all the tricks to get better battery life and I did improve some. However most of the tricks were turn off 4g,turn off wifi, turn down brightness, set the apps to not auto sync. All the reasons I purchased the phone in the first place. In my opinion to get good battery life you must cripple the phone in many ways.

I am no Apple fan boy by any means but my wife's iphone 4 with moderate internet use and quite a few phone calls and pictures being taken will last almost 2 full days without hitting the charger. Now I know it has a smaller screen and thats one of the reasons that i with an evo.

Crippling or just not that important?

4G is not everywhere & like WiFi, it scans & then turns itself off not much battery cost there.
As for Autosync - I rather control the phone than the phone control me.
Seriously, does eveyone need that much email & text coming in every moment.

Even the President of the US, doesn't need info every second. Face it, we're & YOU are not that important!

You say not important and I say crippling. Just a difference of opinion. As far as me trolling I have been a member of this forum since I purchased the phone but I don't post much. I was just posting my opinion in a thread asking how long you will keep your evo. I was very happy when I switched from Iphone to Evo but after about 2 months I found that Android os is almost there but not quite so I hung around and waited for gingerbread and boy was I disappointed.

I saw your join date and it's understandable where you're coming from. Since I got the EVO from being a Windows Mobile user, Android is night and day from Windows Mobile, so there's no way that I'd give the same marks that you did for iOS. And I've used iOS several times with my friends' iPhones.

But you have to admit that it looks a little suspect when you have so few posts and absolutely no posts in any of the threads addressing issues that you've mentioned in your posts in this thread. To me, that just seems like you probably are better suited to going back to an iPhone rather than sticking with Android. It's a matter of what suits you the best and that's fine, but I highly disagree with your take on Android OS vs. iPhone OS.

I'll definitely be waiting at least another 6 months...maybe a year. The right replacement phone hasn't come out yet. The 3D definitely isn't it...it's entirely the wrong mix of features. It's certainly more powerful, but they fixed things that weren't broken and dropped some things that worked very nicely, like the kickstand. I'm sure somebody will get the right mix before too long, but for now, I still love my EVO 4G. Only thing I need before too long is a replacement battery...a year of nightly charging cycles has taken a toll on my battery.

lithium batteries have no memory effect.

Send it over to me I am willing to deal with that piece of junk!

Resisting the urge on going to get the EVO 3D, I'm going to try and wait it out another year and see where phone tech is by then. This phone was a huge leap in technology from my old phone and first smart phone I owned. I finally have the phone laid out just how I want it. Battery's doing right. Using Go Launcher now and it's like having a new phone. I may try rooting it if I get bored with the EVO over the next year but don't really have the need. This phone still has legs.

I'm keeping my EVO for as long as I have interest in using it. I will be upgrading to a SGS2 while putting the EVO on an extra line. I'm not so confident in Samsungs paper numbers as I've been using my wifes EPIC trying to get a feel for Touchwiz, and despite the great numbers, the only thing better about that phone than my EVO is the screen, and even that's only viewing pictures and videos, and the viewing angle IMO. My phone is smoother, operates better and has less annoying problems. So I will wait and see if the S2 is really worth it, if not, I'm getting a 3VO and try that, and if not that, I know I already have a winner in the EVO.
