I will be up for an upgrade on Verizon in August and I am seriously considering switching to an iphone when it comes (I'm currently using an Eris).
The main reason I might switch to an iphone is because I recently lost my ipod and I would like to be able to combine both devices. My problem with android is that I have not been able to find a good media player and music syncing software to use. I have a Mac and have been using doubletwist to put music on my phone, however it would be much more convenient for me to be able to use iTunes as that is where I have all of my music. I am also considering getting an iPhone because until I got this recent Macbook I had never liked Macs, but now I love it, and the iPhone will integrate most easily with my computer.
I work at an IT help desk and repeatedly have to set up email on peoples phones, so I get to use and play around with every type. I prefer android in almost every case, but when dealing with music it really seems sub-par. Since I lost my ipod and began listening to music on my Eris I've noticed that the sound quality is significantly worse than on my first gen ipod touch. When listening with headphones from DoubleTwist player, the standard music app and Pandora on my Eris it sounds very bass heavy and muddy. The midrange Bass sounds muddy and washed out and there is little punch to kickdrums or slap bass or things like that. Is this something that people have noticed across android or potentially HTC phones, and if so is it something that can be remedied with EQ?
I would really prefer to get an android phone, and right now I am looking primarily at the SGSII, Droid 3 and Bionic, all of which I expect will be out by my upgrade in August. If I decide to go for the iPhone I will probly wait for the next edition to come out which I thought would be around September, but now its looking more like november, and I would prefer not to wait that long (I have to get rid of this Eris). I have about 55 gigs of music on my computer and I would ideally like to put all of that on my music player so that I don't have to constantly reorganize my music when I want to add new stuff to my player. I know no android phones coming out anytime soon will be able to hold all of this music, but does anyone thing the next gen iPhone will have a 64gb model?
So sorry for the long post, but I am essentially wondering what people's favorite android media players are and how they have felt using their android phones as primary media players, and whether anyone prefers using their Android to an ipod as a music player. Also, which of the three phones I am interested in (or any others that may be out on Verizon by august that I don't know about) would have the best battery life if I'm playing music a lot.
