POLL: How long does your (stock) battery last?

Just curious as to what the average is here on the forums, I guess. I was going to wait for the Galaxy S 2, but since Verizon hates customers, I'm going to get a TB (hard choice over the Charge, imo) before July 7.

So for those of you without extended batteries, how long does yours typically last?

I have an extended battery, but I am using the stock battery today. After twelve and one half hours I have forty five percent battery left. I have WiFi at work so I did not use much 4g. I made one five minute phone call. I received mail throughout the day and I checked the news and a few web sites.

I know from experience that it would be different if I had no WiFi or I was on the street using GPS. I have an extended battery for a reason. But I don't have to use the extended battery for my normal work day.

I think you should work 4G into the poll somehow. I have no 4G here and I get pretty decent battery life. I marked 9-10 hours on the poll cause there HAVE been times when my battery falls short due to reboots or usage, but most of the time my battery does last 10 hours or more.

With light use I recently got 60 hours of battery. No kidding. Thurdsay at 6AM I took it off the charger and it didn't go back on until 7PM on Saturday. I was in WiFi coverage most of the time. I made 30+ minutes of calls, listed to some music in the car, etc. No video.
I don't use juice defender. I do have Advanced Task Killer but auto-kill is off. WiFi sleep policy is Never and Always-on data is shut off. I still get Gmail, Yahoo mail, txts. I have 3G/4G set to 3G only. I don't have 4G in my area yet (outside Boston).

The Thunderbolt is my first smart phone so I have no previous experience with battery life. I have been reading some of the other forums and it appears they have battery problems too.

Wifi is key. When I am @ home with standard battery I get a couple days no problem. Only slightly less overclocking. Outside my home coverage I get a solid work day. About 12-16 hours. I am NOT however in an LTE area.

4g kills your battery. Have wifi at work and auto connect when i get there, usually have about 60 percent when i leave after 10 hours going in with a full charge. Turned on mobile network to check my bank account (paranoid, open wifi) and i was almost dead @ 7 hours!

I think the network radios suck power, as my only previous smart phone was a BB Tour, Xm online would kill my battery on 3g in 4 hours, on my TB same 4 hours took 10 percent on wifi.

Anyways buy the phone. Your question made me join instead of lurking to tell you that.

I get about 12 hours average. Heavy use, BT streaming music/Slacker for average 8 of those hours and I don't ever hesitate to play a little PvZ, but NO 4G use at all.

I get roughly 5-6 hours with moderate to heavy usage. 3g only, no wifi at work nor in a 4g area. On weekends, I typically have about 50% left after being off the charger for 14 hours or so always on wifi unless I leave my house.

Wow, that's pretty good, imo. That's not far from what I would be doing on a typical day, really. Replace "stream 20 minutes of video" and "upload 26 pics to picasa" with "listen to Pandora while I bike/walk to class" and add a few web pages between classes. If I can get a full day out of that (all on 3g, by the way; we don't have 4g in the small town where I go to school yet), I'll be content.

I downloaded a 51mb podcast as well using google listen.

Not bad if you are use to managing your battery. Some people just want a full day of use without thinking about it.

I've only had the TB a week now and my battery isn't too bad. I take off the charger around 9-10am and check facebook and web and whatever else till 1 then I work from 2-11pm and I use my phone to make 10min calls check texts and email about every hour during the day and used pandora for about three hours and still had more then 30% by the time I got home and then played a game for an hour on it and had to put on the charger.

I typically get 12 to 14 with light to moderate usage. I leave 4G off when I don't need it and use WiFi at home. My home WiFi is slower than 4G, but the tradeoff in battery life is well worth it. I'm never too far from an outlet, so even if I do wear the battery down, I can always plug my phone in when I'm working.

I usually get around 16 hours out of mine. I'm primarily on 4G, the only time I'm on wifi is at home. My experience seems to be opposite of most. When streaming videos my 3G connection drains much quicker than with a 4G connection. I get better battery life with this phone over my previous Moto Droid.

Could it be that radios are similar to processors in the sense that they are not all created equal?

It lasts for 7-8 hours of continuous use. With my auto battery, it lasts for months depending on the usage. The combination of sulfuric acid with lead plates works to store chemical energy. When you turn the key to draw electrical power, acid runs over the lead, creating a charge. Under average use, most car batteries last three to six years, although heavy use

Unplugged at ~6am. D/L 35min Cnet HQ podcast (on WiFi I think). Headed to work playing podcast video through car stereo on 4g the entire ride. WiFi back on at work. Played music with headphones on till about 11:45 and it was down to 13%. A few txt here and there. Got roughly 5hr 45min. Took a good 1 in a half to 2hrs to charge back up again.

I can normally squeeze 18-24 hours out of my batter. I unplug it before work and when I get off and back home (about 11 hours later), I am normally around 60% or so. I do some light texting, updating and checking RSS feeds and maybe a few phone calls. By the time I get into bed, 4 hours later I'm down into the low 40s, high 30s. Some days I get better life than others, depending on usage and/or where I go and how the signal is.

I keep 4G on everywhere. I always have my GPS on. I have things syncing, but I've adjusted the sync times to my own preference. My phone DOES NOT randomly reboot (crosses fingers).
