Here's a screenie of my desktop showing the tool from the SDK:

First impressions of the phone: wow. the display is stunning. there's still a LOT of stuff I need to play with before I'll comment more. I just did a pretty detailed analysis of the phone's signal strength (another thread). Expect more intense scrutiny to come.

Oh hell, I got light bleeding on my bottom corners. Mainly the left one!

Ok, I really don't want this to get glossed over. Are you saying that you are experiencing light leakage from the edge of the screen (near the capactive buttons)? I went throgh three EVO 4G phones because the screen kept delaminating. I would like to see what the new users are experiencing with respect to this issue. It typically is leaking right out of the box or the screen delaminates within 2 weeks of use. Thanks.

I just got my evo 3d today, and played with it for a little bit. It is a pretty amazing phone, blazing fast, love sense 3.0, the screen is crisp, colors pop, animations are very fluid, and smooth. I love the carousel effect when swiping through screens, very cool. I played the 3d spiderman game. It is very good, certain aspects of 3d really pop, but when it works, it definitely has that wow factor. I took some 3d pictures, its all about the sweet spot, and right angle. When you find that sweet spot, it looks really good, but will disorient you if you can not find it. I shot one 3d video, looked ok. I went to yourtube, and looked at some 3d videos. Some looked ok, but this one I looked at looked amazing, so when it works, it works! As far as battery life, well, when I got it it was about 50-60% charged. I got about 3.5 hours of use, in which I got a few emails, 45 minute call, 10 minutes of spiderman, 15 minutes of watching youtube 3d videos, etc... I will say battery life is subjective, it all depends on what you are doing, the 3d will drain it fast, but I would venture to say if you do not use it often, you can probably get a full day of moderate to heavy use. The green hornet video did not upload, so the jury is still out on that. The call quality is just ok, I get 4-5 bars in my apt, and was talking to my friend for 45 minutes, turned the phone up to the highest call volume, not good, staticy, garbled, even on the lowest volume it was ok. I will say it does not pick up as much background noise like the evo did. Overall I would give call quality a 6/10, the evo 4g I would give an 8. Thats been my short time with the phone, anyone who has an evo 4g should upgrade to this phone, it is better in every way, except call quality and reception

I don't know what to say that has already been said...edit...obviously I have a lot to say...hahahaha.....

The fell of the phone in hand is substantial yet feels better than the 4G...

Mine has an ULTRA-sensitive power button that might need to be addressed at a later date...we will see how it works out.

The 3D effect is INSANE!!!!! Ihonestly did not buy tis phone for that but I am VERY impressed. It will train your eyes how to look at it. I don't see it as stuff "popping out" but I niew it as being able to look INTO the screen. It is surprisingly incredible.

Everyone has been talking about processor speed. I am a neurotic root user on the 4G so I was always looking for ways to maximize performance and I usually succeeded. SO while I do see improvements in performance, I am not absolutely stunned by it....jury is still out I guess in this regard and this is the number one reason I bought this device. Please don't get me wrong here. It is fast....but so was the 4G. It will be interesting to see what we can do rooted and overclocked!!!!

The display is nice. Again, not totally blown away but it is better than the 4G.

Sense 3.0....I was already getting a taste with Mk's V.2.0 so I was very familiar with how it all worked. Is it slick...heck yeah. But is it available on the 4G...you bet if you root it.

Battery life....I think will be fine. I got the phone at 5pm and have been beating the hell out of it ever since(1030 now). The vast majority of that has been 3D capture. I still have well over 50% and most likely in the 70% range. I honestly don't think battery burn is gonna be an issue on this phone.

Camera....aside from the 3D(which is surprisingly awesome), I am an amateur photog and have not got into the settings but I have realized that low light performance is better on this device than the 4G. THis is a very unscientific opinion but low light performance is the real measure of how good the sensor is....and I believe it to be significantly better than the 4G. The dedicated shutter switch is awesome as well.

Call quality....every bit as good as the 4G. I honestly have made just a few calls with no real intention of testing call quality. But I treated it just like any other call and it performed just like any other call. Nothing negative to report here.

Summary. If you are trying to decide whether to buy food for your kids or get this phone, I would highly recommend you buy food for your kids. I am being somewhat facetious here. Bottom line is if you are strapped for cash, do not stretch too far to make this purchase. I am basing that opinion on a rooted EVO 4G. A rooted EVO 4G is close to this phone minus the 3D capability(which, as we all know, is surprisingly awesome). Do I think this phone is awesome???....It absolutely is!!! But it is truly an evolution as opposed to a revolution. In case you didn't quite get it....the 3D stuff is amazing!!!! Maybe it is because I went in with very low expectations and I bought this phone based on other specs. I am just giddy as hell about this feature. And I will say that I never measure my stuff against Apple because I don't think we are all in the same boat, but Apple should truly be jealous. There are some serious bragging rights here. And as an amateur photographer, I can think of all kinds of stuff to exercise the 3D features on!!!!!!

One thing that is pretty cool is that the "exoskeleton" of the phone is kinda like a mini-case...ie the glass does not all the way to the edges like the 4G. So even if you dropped it on the corner, there is a chance it would survive the drop since the glass would not be the source of impact on the drop. It feels significantly sturdier than the 4G. The form factor is better and the phone feels smaller!!!!

I would rate it a 9+ out of 10. But this is a very immature review.

You beat me to it. I didn't see anyone posting how absolutely amazing the 3D is. I was excited about the 3D but maybe after reading the pro reviewers my expectations of the 3D were lowered but I love the 3D. I'm taking pictures of my 2 year old son eating a hamburger in Walmart, which I usually wouldn't do.

I've also had a couple of short phone conversations and haven't had a problem which was my biggest concern. Unless something really problematic pops up in the next 29 days I don't see myself returning this phone.

I would like to thank everyone with an EVO 3D who has given their input on this phone... You guys have given some valuable insight! I was leaning toward the 3vo, but not certain about using my upgrade on it. Based on the info I have seen so far, I will now be getting this thing... and cannot wait. Thanks a lot guys! :) Hope yall are having fun!

What is the Facebook phonebook of death? Sounds like something I'd like to avoid.

He might be referring to the fact that if you choose to blindly sync your Facebook friends to your contacts.....well.....you end up with all of your facebook friends in your contacts....profiles and all. I don't find it to be an issue since you can scroll so rapidly. But I do get what he is saying....

+1 I had all but decided to get the Galaxy S2 and not even bother picking up a 3D and trying it out. But now I have to get one and give it a shot. I probably will try the S2 as well, but that is the best informed decision one can make, actually trying both phones. Looking forward to picking one up tomorrow.

This phone is definitely impressing me so far. It is able to play flash content perfectly smooth even when a bunch of flash stuff is on the page. Everything just loads fast and all the menus/UI are very smooth.

I did not think I would really be impressed with the 3D feature but it is actually pretty fun to play with. The 3d content on youtube I can find varies from well put together content that looks amazing and doesn't bother my eyes at all to just horrible and starts straining my eyes instantly. The spiderman demo and Green Hornet both work and look amazing in 3d though...so the 3D content can look/work great if a real company that knows what they are doing makes the content.

I also do quite a bit of gaming on my phone and the Evo 3d just puts my EVO 4g and Epic to shame. It plays dungeon defenders on max graphics quality perfectly smooth...though it does crash after a while(maybe the game isn't completely compatible with the evo 3d yet). Psx4droid doesn't work on my evo 3d but the FPSe emulator works perfectly and it loads the games faster than either phone...I'm hoping we can maybe get a PS2 emulator since the new GPUs are a lot better.
