Kies / Firmware / Updating

Hi Guys,

Bought my Ace 2 months ago on the uk 3 network. Since then Kies says i have the latest Firmware it is:-

PDA:KAB / PHONE:KA3 / CSC:KA4 (H3G)

Looking at other posts this does not look like the latest. CAn anyone explain please??

well firmware depends frm region to region i guess, coz fr me its PDA:KC2/PHONE:KCI/CSC:KC1.....BTW did u get the gingerbread update???

Im on exactly the same firmware, we just haven't got the download yet

Well I'm up the road in the Northeast any Kies is prompting me to download Gingerbread.

I did yesterday if you read my posts but there is a problem with it and Virgin Mobile,for some reason it wouldn't send texts with packet data turned on. I called Virgin and it is being looked into. So I rolled it back to 2.2 as I cant live without texts or internet lol.

Just had this email from 3. Doesnt look like 3 customers are gonna get it for a while!

ok but 3 phone work with any simcard right? could we not just put a t-mobile, vodaphone, orange simcard in , get the update, then put 3 sim back in?

Should work. But dont they put their own stamp of sorts on the firmware?

I have tried to get firmware update from KA7 to KC1 through kies...... but after the downloading of firmware the message shows "Firmware Upgrade in progress" but Progress shows 0%
On mobile there is green downloading message on black screen.......
3 hours passed nothing happened ..... I disconnected the mobile from PC & restarted..... The mobile works fine no difference in firmware.... its still KA7......
I have tried 3-4 times the same procedure & ended up with same results...... no upgrade.....
Using a laptop with 2GB RAM & Windows 7 OS.... 1MB/S internet connection.... latest KIES from samsung website installed..... Tried the upgarde on various time .... late night ... early morning... in the day time..... but no results... what should I do.....
will the samsung service center guys upgrade it free of charge?

I've just been into the headquarters of 02-UK & discussed kies upgrades of firmware & Gingerbread 2.3. There are no official updates issued by 02-UK at this time. They expect a release from Samsung in the coming weeks, but can't say when. They stated that the releases by "3" & Vodafone etc in the U.K. are buggy, so they will only release a stable version when it is available. Hey ho!! GrahamF. London.

3 have not yet released it so o2 are just talking shite. Thats one of the reasons i moved from them (the main reason being their whole 3g network is creaking at the seams and has poor coverage!)

Hey guys me not from London, though I bought the Ace very recently. It's got 2.2 on it and when I connect it to the PC via USB , Kies tells me that This version of the Device cannot be updated. and gives me the current firmware version as PDA:KA9/ PHONE:KA6/CSC:KA5(PRT). Now what I'm not sure of is weather this is a problem with the registry keys or something else. Any help please???? Build number FROYO.XWKA9
