Help OTA update 1.13.651.7 is live

damn, that's a lot of confusion. Ok here are my observations. I have the OTA:

lockscreen phone icon (on the left) still works. I drag it into the ring and my dialer app loads.

The "Phone" button at the base of all homescreens is still there and it works. When I click it, the dialer comes up.

I never noticed if "Phone" or "Dialer" was an app in my app drawer BEFORE the OTA. But now that I have the update, I don't see a "Phone" app or widget. Which means I can't create a shortcut for it.

That may not matter with the Sense launcher, since the built-in phone button is always there, but what happens if you run a custom launcher??? Haven't gotten around to that yet.

Thats the issue, before the OTA, the phone shortcut was on the list but after the update its not on the list. Now with me personally, when I did a hard reset it brought the icon back on the lock screen but if I wanted to change it to something else I could but if I want it back on the lockscreen then it wouldn't be possible since its no longer listed under the lockscreen settings.

Just FYI, there's another OTA available now...apparently it patches the problem with it constantly trying to sync. I think it was only about 2 mb

I wonder if the icon was just stuck or was it actually trying to sync the whole time and if thats the case then my battery should now get even better.

Thanks Doomstang! Do you know if this update also addresses the disappearing phone icon bug? I'm getting my phone tomorrow and the answer to that question will help me to decide whether I want to accept the update (personally, I'd rather have the calendar bug for a while than having the disappearing phone icon bug).

Watch was actually trying to sync the whole time. I noticed my battery was going pretty fast today and went to Battery and checked all the apps that were listed as using the battery and Watch was listed as keeping the phone awake for the entire time my phone was unplugged. I rebooted and sure enough my Up Time and Awake time stayed the same. I force stopped all of Watch's services and it stopped syncing and my phone slept again.

Weird, I never even thought of doing that. I wonder if that played a role with reviewers complaining about battery life?

Anyone on the rev number?

Does this fix anything on the phone app - is it back in the drawer?

This is saying it's freeing bloatware?

HTC EVO 3D Trims the Fat with Removable Bloatware, Receives Minor HTC Watch Update

Not a new rev. It is just an update for HTC Watch. It is actually 2 downloads. One is a patch for HTC Watch and one is a newer version of the actual HTC Watch App v0.2.26.3-24. As for the bloatware, Not all of it is removable. Sprint NASCAR is, Amazon MP3 is not.

It may well have. My first Android device was the Hero and it had a nasty bug that kept the phone awake at all times so I am obsessive about checking for errant apps and processes.

My "Phone" Icon has disappeared from my Lock-Screen as well. I can't figure out how to get it back there. When you go to customize the Lock-Screen Icons "Phone" is not on the list. =(

Unfortunately the OTA removes the Phone Icon from some unlucky users phones and the only way to fix it is to do a Factory Reset/Hard Reset.

Seriously? Do I really need to do a reset or will they fix this in another OTA update?

Don't waste your time hard resetting(IMO) especially if you already got your phone customized. Also keep in mind that if you do hard reset, the icon may reappear on the lock screen but it still won't be listed in the lockscreen settings like it was before the OTA. I did a hard reset and it came back but after that I did a soft reset for another reason and when the phone came back up the icon was gone so I just replaced it with something else in the mean time.

If you want to fix it today then a reset is the only option. Your guess is as good as mine to whether or not an OTA will come soon to fix it. I would think so judging from how fast 2 issues have been addressed thus far but who knows.

Update: just saw muffinman's post so maybe just wait.

This is what I did. I just replaced it with "Voice Dialing" for now and when they fix it I'll put "Phone" back there.

Absolutely! I don't think we'll have to wait long for the fix. It's good to know I'm not alone. I'm a very new Android user so everything is a big question mark to me.

It seems I opened my mouth to soon. I changed my Mail Icon to Gmail and now my Phone is gone from the lock screen with no way to re add except or a Hard Reset that is. Oy vey!
