Help Launcher Pro on HTC Sensation 4G

Love my Sensation. Miss my Launcher Pro. Have tried several home switcher apps to no avail. Please advise.

Otherwise the phone is great. Moved from N1 - not finding the phone especially fast however. Would love to use alternative home replacements. Sense is making this difficult I think.

Have seen the youtube video, however - pressing the home button or icon always returns me to sense. wtf.

anyone else?

One of the first things I did was put LauncherPro on it out of the box and it worked fine. I did however give it up and chose Sense as the default for 2 reasons:
1: Sense is so heavy, having the two side by side causes Sense to reboot constantly. (every time you hit home to be precise) which lead to the 1st and only problem I've had with this device, it rebooted once, and reset itself to default status undoing all of my visual settings. Since I defaulted it, hasn't happened again.
2: I've had Launcher Pro across my last 4 phones, until it gets overhauled to some degree I want to try something new, and Sense in some ways is quite useful. (If you look close you can see subtly where they borrowed heavily from LauncherPro)

In any event, if you want just jump to into... Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Applications> (Filter to all)>Scroll down to HTC Sense (the one with the clock icon, not the green htc logo) >clear data>hit home and choose LauncherPro. (assuming you've installed it already) Default it if you wish to suppress Sense.

Yeah, it's (LauncherPro) not going to show up in your App's drawer, and you won't be able to launch it from the market downloads section. You pretty much have to install it and select it. It's probably HTC's special way of making it tough to sink it. Good luck.

thank you XXSuntoucherxX!!!

but please tell me: about #1
if you have LP you can't disable sense? will i be able to use LP as default or will it start to reboot?

thanks =)

Well there's the technical sticky part. Unless the phone is rooted and you remove Sense out right, you'll never actually truly disable it. That said, you can certainly suppress it and save on system resources by not initializing some parts of it in the first place. So, yes. You can certainly set LP to as default but, near as I can tell you have to go about it the long way I outlined above. What I left out of that whole thing is that after I installed LP from the market, since I never set it as my default, HTC Sense defaulted itself for me. I've never rebooted to find out if Sense undoes a LP set to default, but I would assume that it doesn't.

So, install LP, hit home and set it as default. For fun, reboot the phone. If you've already installed it, no big deal, you'll just have to go through settings and do it that way. Annoying, but effective. Now if someone would make with the root already this whole thing would be so much simpler.

I am running Launcher Pro on 2 sensations and it has been choppy on both. Since LP rocked on my G2x, I assume it si the Sensation. Very disappointed.

Probably has a lot to do with Sense not being completely killed with the absence of root, you'll probably still end up running Sense UI some how. That said, consider the payload that the RAM has to deal with running the two, the RAM that's left anyhow...

When I ran the two, I had a bigger problem work Sense bring choppy. LP was actually the more consistent of the two. Although at the time I didn't have 192 apps on my phone either. Try LP if or when this phone gets root.

So there seems to be a new problem now. While I had no problems with running Launcher 7 on my Sensations when I first got it and really loved having the WIMO theme on my Droid, I have run in to a problem ever since I got the new update. Does anyone know if its just a compatibility issue or do we have to do something different in our phone first to make it work.

The program is installed but not running and I've tried turning off fast boot as well as clearing the data from HTC Sense as well.

I'm using ADW Launcher (EX version) & its also a bit more choppy than on my older HTC phones.

my phone also reverts back to Sense anytime I reboot (never had this issue on my EVO 4g)...not a biggie as i just have to manually start ADW Launcher & I'm good until I reboot.

That said, I am probably going to remove/freeze sense since I'm not using it (or install a sense-less ROM). Does require root, but I assure you that this is an easy exercise if you haven't rooted before.

Think you'll find that some of the popular ROMs, w/ sense (eg LeesDrOiD) or without sense (eg cyanogen), will make a HUGE performance difference.

I'm using ADW Launcher (EX version) without a problem! LP+ issues were never solved so I switched to ADW. Even after rebooting, ADW continues to work just fine.
A side-note: as mentioned earlier in this thread, Sense 3.0 is a mighty-fine homescreen launcher in of itself. I keep switching between ADW and Sense as I please.
Cheerios.
