Root The Future of Velocity

What path should we take?

I just want to say that, I have yet to vote at all. For one reason, which equates to multiple outcomes. I'd like to see Velocity's future "split" as it were, though I know that would be a nearly impossible task. I like it as it is currently, based on stock, but It'd be nice to see it go AOSP as well. However, I do not like the idea of a "remix". Even worse, I hate to think Velocity Development might come to an end.

My opinion is that the priority probably should be Velocity 1.2 first then port cm7. I say this because a stable build of Velocity 1.2 is probably just on the horizon whereas cm7 could be quite a while before we see a stable build.

I like velocity and i voted for a remix but i pulled a john kerry i would like to change my vote to keep velocity in development but still have the option for a separate choice to cm7. Options is the keyword and i know the devs are good at options among other things. I just hope that cm7 is supported as an option along with velocity and frunisher. I did like cm7 when i used it for a few mins but there are problems but when isnt there? I know by having my problems i have learned to fix some so i become more efficient. I still hope you are not frustrated gnm with people bytching!

i was contemplating writing a huge rallying speech, but i think the time for effective communication is now. i voted "Continue development on stock ROM base" because while i like the last 3 options i think keeping Velocity going in its current form offers us (Ally users) options and android is all about options.

the last 3 choices are good, but why discard all the effort and work the Velocity people put in. just dont let Velocity die, its my fav flavor of android!

I love velocity, 1.1 is great and I only went back to stock because I kept getting the software update over and over again (I even let it go through and fail but it would still pop up) I've seen the one post about a sneak peek at velocity 1.2 and would love to see it and use it. Any ideas as to when it might be released?

First off NO ASKING FOR ETA's. Second, no need to double post, third this issue has been fixed for a while now and if you looked around you may have seen it. Here is my answer to your other post

Open the velocity toolkit, open terminal emulator and start the velocity script by typing
Code:
velocity
and let it update, then you will need to type it again becuase it exits out of the script. it may update twice. And if it does, do it again and it will fix the update. If you look aroun all things root and the velocity forum, its bene there FOR A WHILE NOW. If you dont know about the velocity toolkit and the amazing script. Youre missing out.

I have to respond with "BULL CRUD!!!" to the refrain of "NO ASKING FOR ETAS". A politely phrased request such as the previous poster's "Any ideas as to when it might be released?" deserves a much more courteous response, such as "Velocity 1.x is currently under development and there is no ETA at this time."

While I understand that any ROM development is done at the dev's own expense of time and generally without much compensation, and that some people can be a PITA about constantly asking, it really is counter-productive to alienate your fan-base. It's one thing to shut down a trolling, bit-challenged, whiny git with a "You OWE me Man!" attitude. It's quite another to treat a respectful inquiry that way.

I don't know much about Cyanogen Mod 7, but from what I hear it's awesome. I know a little more about Velocity and I know it's awesome. Put the two together and when do we get? A lot of awesome.
I know there are reasons to stop working on Velocity now that cm7 "works" on the Ally, but I can see things that the Velocity team could add or change to make the experience of using an Ally on cm7 even better. I've also been using Velocity since 0.3 and I don't want it to go away just because a new rom is in town.
And there you go, my 2

Well Trident, what do you think the potential is of the ally with Velocity? Id like to think that the next one your put out from the stock base is going to be badass as they all have been in the past, but I pose a question to you, do you feel that you guys would be able to produce better stuff with a hybrid. I mean I don't really care either way, Ive tried a couple other roms to compare, and Velocity will always be my favorite, whichever you feel would have the best speed with the functionality is the one that I would like. :D

CM will eventually be available for the Ally, either to an official (unlikely) release or to the hard work by one of our (by "our" I mean like DTA or you yourself, Trident, or Savoxis or Getitnowmarketing, etc.) dev's. Thing is that Velocity, in all of it's incremental builds, has been able to outshine not just the Cynogen guys, but LG and to a much lesser degree, Verizon (I just mean biting into a wintergreen Lifesaver in the dark outshines Verizon's involvement in the Ally), at every turn. From the Velocity Toolkit to the Scripts to being able to customize everything from the Splash screen to the power off/reboot menu, it's ability for stable Oc'ing to the included untrackable tether (lifesaver with the Moto Xoom), it has been kicking ass on my phone since the second or third build (been a while). I've happily donated to Trident and the Velocity team hoping that it would not only be a thank you for the great work till now but also as a little grease for the wheels of progress to keep moving forward. I'm not expecting great things out of this little bastard phone, it was $50, as they say you get what you pay for, but I've already gotten at least that much a dozen times over thanks to team Velocity. Whatever the outcome may be, to keep plugging away with Velocity or let the Cynogen Monster eat up all the Ally ROM'ers I know that with the aforementioned dev's still kicking around and interested in the Ally, that it will be a great phone for quite a while to come. So my vote for a remixed CM ROM is conditional, I would rather see a true Velocity update than a Cynogen install but if it can't happen that way, for whatever reason, then I guess there are worse things than CM7, like you know THE STOCK ALLY SOFTWARE...AAAAAAHHHHH the horror!!!

You guys may hate on me for this but as of right now I am fully pleased with the performance of the ally and what the developers have done thus far. I don't see any reason to continue trying to make this phone any better and I doubt it's even possible. Just kinda seems like... I don't know, a waste of time. There is only so much one can expect and I wouldn't blame them if they decided to abandon ship.

I would say one final make of velocity should be seen but only if it heads up to aos 2.3 or a fully reskinned/new ui aos 2.2.2 with better performance and features.
I have seen the performance of gretel and its amazing. Aos 2.3 should be the goal but if its impossible than by all means, we are set to let go. The ally is a discontinued device and our devs should be fresh and would like to continue their work on newer devices with better hardware and capabilities. If the ally sees no use for 2.3 than why not port or continue velocity on another community voted phone? I mean its gathered alot of attention and just throwing it way would be a waiste
