thread b4 this one is atrix for $49. Volume isn't what they were hoping. Is it because the bootloader issue, a speed crippled "4G" phone with throttled throughput, or a phone designed for Internet use that can only get a plan for 4 gig max, a network that can't do 2meg download consistently and the fact that you have to have a tethering plan to use the docking features. plus the accessories cost an arm n a leg.
I like the phone, it has its quirks, but what phone doesn't. Notice that my gripes pretty much fall in the lap of the service provider. If it wasn't for their greed, this phone could excel. We will see when it hits overseas markets. Companies over there seem to be a little more aware of how their customers use their phones. ATT wants to tell the customer how you will use your phone.

The Atrix is sold in Canada...The only issue that the Atrix has is the capped HUSPA. The phone comes with a tether built in and you can side load app. Big flaw, there's no SBF so no custom roms like Gingerblurr or GladiAtrix. No devs want to support it because of the high risk of bricking the phone. Plus most of the devs are from the US XD

I find it kinda ridicolous that Moto had to bring the price down to $99 at ATT stores to get more sales. The general public really doesn't know what they are missing buying the Inspire or Infuse over this phone. I'm only refering to the AT&T customers.

I am getting the inspire today from Costco for $20 ($100 at the AT&T store). they sell the Atrix for $120 ($100 until Saturday at the AT&T store).

So I can get the Inspre or $80 less than the Atrix. I very well understand that the Atrix is a powerful phone, but I am just going for the better deal. If the price drops for the Atrix at Costco whitin the return period, I'll exchange it for my Inspire.

On topic: I see it for $150 on amazon, but I am guessing it is because the OP is from several months ago.

I dunno, if it were me I'd gladly pay the extra $80 for a better phone knowing I'll be stuck with it for at least a year and a half (until I could upgrade again).

I mean your getting more power, better battery, more memory and a phone with a company who seems very active in providing updates for the software.

I can definitely see the value in getting an Inspire for 20 bucks tho. Heck of a deal for a great phone.

The main complaints I here about the Atrix are the resolution and Motoblur.

The sales rep at costo said that the only reason tthat the Atrix is always returned (some 20% of all the Atrix's he has sold are returned) is people complainin about the resolution. Sure it does not have the pixel density of the iphone, but it is a great resolution regardless. I'm guessing it was just super picky phone people.

I have read a lot of bad things about Motoblur (though I hear it has vastly improved on the Atrix). I also hear pretty much everyone replaces it with another launcher (Launcher Pro if I am not mistaken, correct me if I am wrong (I am pretty tech savy, but new to smartphones...especially their sofware)).

Main thing for me is that it will be my first smartphone (been using Symbian OS and its predecesors since I got my first cell phone some 6 years ago). So I will now have to pay for a data plan (going for the 2 gig plan for 2 months, then seeing if I should downgrade depending on my overall usage). Saving on the phone helps pay for the data plan :).

However, as I said, I will exchange the Inspre for eht Atrix if Costco drops the price of it within the return periods I have with the Inspire...unless i REALLY like the inspire

Atrix getting 2.3.3 with unlock bootloader!!! I hope whatever phone you replaced it with, you won't regret it when the GB OTA rolls out.
Working with technology for decades, if there is one thing I have learned it is this: Never base a purchase decision on what will be happening, especially what will be happening "soon". Always buy based on what is available today, otherwise delay the purchase, which is not an option for me.
