Go 'naked' or screen protector

I just ordered an Invisible Shield clone product in Best Skin Ever and I already have a silicone case for the back of the Nexus.

I'm leaning towards leaving the screen protector off and only putting it on if I have a small scratch, and so far, 'naked' is working well.

I'm worried a bit about putting on the screen protector because:

1. It might make imaging a bit worse
2. It might make the screen less responsive to touch
3. Seems like a hassle trying to put the screen on anyway

What are your thoughts?

i had a zagg on there for about 2 days. already took it off.. it seemed like my soft keys weren't as responsive and not to mention, a dust spec got under during install so it was driving me nuts...needless to say im back to 'naked' and i think thats the way its staying.

Thanks. I probably dropped about 10 bucks for no reason then.

Why chance it??? How upset are you going to be when you get that small scratch that there, PERMANENTLY. What would you rather do replace a protector when it gets a scratch or gets a grain of dirt under it during instal or live with looking at that scratch for as long as you own the device. A no brainer to me. Go get PDO protectors for the Ipod Touch from your local apple store, cut to fit(this is not hard, you only need to trim a little), and install. You don't notice them on there, it doesn't affect the screen responsiveness at all.

The only thing I know that is is a diamond. Besides guys and gals, if HTC or Google had a true scratch proof screen don't you think they would be taunting that. It does a great job no doubt. Its very resilient to scratches. Then again I did pay $500 for this thing so u til I can throw it across a room against a wall and it survive I think I'll do my utmost to protect my device.

Incredible, honda.

moto1907, my thinking on a scratch is I probably wouldn't see it if I applied a screen protector afterwards.

What I really want is something I had for my iphone, an entire clear case that protects the back and even covers the front. Artwizz made that case, and it kept my iphone absolutely pristine and it was removable.

I'll probably put this screen protector on the nexus, just to see how it works. I can always take the thing off.

If you wouldn't see the scratch after the sceen protector is applied I would say your using one that distorts the screen clarity. I've been very happy with all of my seidio cases that i've owned. That and a screen protector has done the job for me and I'm not that easy on them. That's the thing. You can always put another type of protector on your device if it doesn't fit your needs but you only have one screen.

thats the main reason I want a screen protector is to make it not a fingerprint magnet. Geez this screen picks up everything!

Even my cleaning cloth just smears the oily fingerprints around now. Don't know how I'll get it clean before applying a protector if I decide to get one :D

edit: I meant to ask. If I was to get a Zagg full body shield, is the screen part separate so if I decide I don't want it on the rest of the phone, I can just keep the screen protector on?

Those Youtube videos are complete bullshit. I don't have any scratches yet, but a friend of mine does. Like an idiot he put his naked N1 in his pocket with keys, but if that scratched it, then there's no way it doesn't get scratched by the guy in that Youtube video forcing it.

The video pretty much show that under normal use scenarios and that the glass is pretty much scratch RESISTANT but let's not confuse that with being scratch PROOF.

I have my phone "naked" but there is no way in hell you'll ever find me putting it in the same pocket as my keys -- regardless of what ANY YouTube video demonstrates.

Yes -
the screen part is separate. It took me about an hour to put everything on (I was very careful). The few small bubbles left on the main screen shield disappeared in 48 hours - pretty amazing.
The only downside is I have to press a bit harder the 4 touch menu keys but I guess it's just a matter of getting it used to it.
The upsides are no fingerprints magnet anymore, strong protection all around the phone (the back as well) so I am not really using the pouch that came with the phone anymore, and it looks like i never put anything on top of the phone..... very thin.

I ordered myself an InvisibleShield for my Nexus One and my Archos 5 Internet Tablet yesterday. (screens only)

I used to have an iPod touch 1st gen and after watching a few scratch test vids on Youtube I thought it would be fine.... That was until the screen scratched.

After that my iPhone 3G then my HTC Hero had protectors and now my Nexus One will too.

I talked to a Motorola tech about a screen sensitivity issue I was having and he told me the screen reacts more to the heat from your finger rather than pressure. I had already ordered a screen protector from Zagg (They make great protectors) but don't think I will be using it.

$17.98 down the drain. @!#&

Zagg was OK with the screen sensitivity, but the back, menu, home and search touch buttons were definitely affected. Shame, as otherwise I quite liked it. I definitely would have kept it if these buttons had the same sensitivity as the rest of the screen.

I'm looking for something else because the N1 is definitely a bit slippery for one handed operation. I ripped all of the Invisible shield off before I thought to leave the back on.

Thanks for the info rubi. One more question - how does it feel when sliding your finger across the screen with the zagg protector on? I love the fact that there's no drag (if you see what I mean), and wouldn't want that to be affected. I can live with the soft keys not being quite as sensitive.
