After carrying my phone in my pocket (never again), I have applications on my home screen that i don't want.
One is music player, another is an icon for someone on my address book. How do I take icons/applications off my home screen?

One is music player, another is an icon for someone on my address book. How do I take icons/applications off my home screen?

Long press them (hold down on them on your screen) and the trash can will appear. Without letting up, drag them to the trash can. It only removes the icon from your home screen, it doesn't delete them. You can still access them from your apps drawer. You can also drag them to any location, or to another screen if you take them to an edge. This works for widgets and shortcuts as well.

If you're worried about things happening while it's in your pocket, just tap the power button before you put it away. It will put your phone into sleep mode without the wait.
