New to tethering and android. Any suggestions as to how I can tether the infuse. I have read several posts and still unsure. I have unlimited ATT plan. I see an app in the market called easytether. Any good? thanks for helping and your time.
Hi - I am New to Android so I hope I am doing this correct. Here is how I was able to Tether my New Samsung Infuse 4G. First I started reading -
Addictivetips.com, XDA Developers, Momobiles.com and
watching videos on YouTube. Google is a wonderful tool.
First you must Root your Samsung Infuse 4G via
SuperOneClick. I learned how to use SuperOneClick by Reading Addictivetips.com, XDA Developers, Momobiles.com & watching Youtube on how to Root your Samsung Infuse 4G. The
YouTube Video I followed was by:
BigMoneyProductionTV called -
How to Root the Samsung Infuse 4g HD.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITSuKCP0i94 Make sure you follow all the steps and read from the other sites before doing. Some of the key things you need to make sure you do are -
Unmount your SD Card & Check the Box to Enable your USB debugging. This video will walk you through it step by step.
Now that your Samsung Infuse 4G is Rooted. Go into the market and downloand Titanium BackUp free version. Once you have Titanium Backup Free version installed, get on the internet and go here:
http://matrixrewriter.com/android/ This will explain how you can donate to the Developer, once you donate to the Developer he will then e-mail you the key to turn your free version of Titanium BackUp Free to Titanium BackUp Pro. You must have Titanium BackUp Pro in order to Tether your Infuse 4G.
(The Pro Version will allow you to Freeze In your Mobile AP settings, as You will see later)
Now I am sure you could just buy Titanium BackUp Pro from your phone, but all the sites say to donate to the Devloper because that is what helps them to keep inventing new apps.
Now that you are Rooted and have Titanium BackUp Pro, we can now do the Steps to Tether your Samsung Infuse 4G.
1st - Go to
YouTube and watch this video by:
deedomond called -
tether infuse 4g to any device. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePivZT3kKdMThis is the video I watched, follow step by step and you will be tethering for free.
Step 1: Make sure your Wi-Fi is OFF on Infuse 4G
Step 2: Go into Titanium Backup/Restore
Step 3: Click on Tethering Manager
Step 4: Click on Freeze -(This is so you do not have to contact AT&T)
Step 5: Now go into your Wireless Settings on your Phone
Step 6: Click on Mobile AP to Activate
Step 7: Now that your phone is Activated, Make sure the Laptop or what ever device you are tethering has its Wi-Fi ON.
Step 8: What ever Devise you are Tethering to Laptop Etc. Click on the Wi-Fi and find AndroidAPxxxx to conect (The last 4 numbers after AndroidAP will probable be diffrent for everyone that is why I put AndroidAPxxxx) You can also look on your Infuse 4G at the bottom of the Mobile AP page and scroll down to the bottom, it should tell you your AndroidAP Number, PassWord and it will also give the directions.
Step 9: After clicking/conecting to the AndroidAPxxxx from the Laptop enter the password from your Infuse 4G and you are all Done.
Step 10: Enjoy Internet with Mobile AP
I did this and it worked great, My kids played Club Penguin for about 4 Hours this way. Glad I have Unlimited Data....
Again I am New to Android and this is my first post/reply so If I went on to long, posted in the wrong place or missed something, please don't beat me up to bad.
I hope this helps.
