The Sprint HTC Hero Has Gorilla Glass?

I was searching around online trying to see if the upcoming Sprint HTC EVO 3D will sport Gorilla Glass. Apparently, the answer is yes, it will.

During my travels searching for the above answer, I found Corning Incorporated's website. That is the company that manufactures Gorilla Glass. If you click on this link, it mentions that the Sprint HTC Hero also has Gorilla Glass: CORNING

It definitely does. Have you seen the videos of people trying to scratch their Hero? It was a selling point for me when I got mine a little over a year ago.

Yeah. I have seen those videos and they always made me cringe.

Tempered glass is inherently pretty hard and scratch resistant so I just assumed it was regular glass. It would have definitely been just one more selling point for me to know that it was Gorilla Glass.

My screen went bad and I just recently replaced it. I used a screwdriver on the old screen and could not scratch it!

Haha. Now that is a good way to test to see if it is really Gorilla Glass.

The videos on YouTube demonstrated it well enough for my tastes. I would never purposely test it.

I learned of its scratch resistant abilities through personal experience. Twice I dropped the phone from waist high onto concrete face down. Never had a scratch.

Actually, almost all metals are softer than glass which means they won't scrach glass...Gorilla Glass or not.

Yeah, but when you are forcefully grinding away at it with a metal object, you can cause damage on normal glass. For example, if you have a set of keys in the same pocket as your handset and it is a tight fit, the repeated and forceful scratching motion can cause damage.

I have seen this happen to a few unfortunate friends who had handsets without Gorilla Glass. One of them switched to a Gorilla Glass equipped handset and it never happened again despite similar circumstances.
