cricket newb... flashing question

Hello! I'm new to cricket (and these boards, though I've been a reader for awhile.) and have a probably silly question that I can not seem to find the answer to! When a Verizon Android is flashed what changes? Obviously the service, but will the Verizon welcome screen or anything change to cricket? My boyfriend is thinking about switching because its so much more affordable, and offers great service where we live. In his words, he doesn't want to do it if his phone is going to be all cricket-ed out, or some of the android features won't be available. I know this probably seems simple, but for some reason I couldnt find an answer on a forum or Google. Any info would be great! Thanks :)

My best guess is your flashed phone will have the same look as any other CRICKET® ANDROID, which includes the logo appearing on start & shutdown. That is the least of your concerns,as there is also plenty of bloatware supplied by CRICKET as well.I would suggest doing a few things before jumping in.

1) Check out YOU-TUBE for DROIDS flashed to CRICKET.

2) Take a look @ someone else's CRICKET ANDROID,regardless of make or model,to get a 1st hand look @ all the bloat that comes w/CRICKET service.

3) Some more investigating may be in order, namely if a Flashed DROID can be rooted & subsequently have the unnecessary bloatware removed to improve your phone experience.

I flash many Verizon and Sprint phones your phone look will stay the same. The standard motorola verizon welcome screen will still come up. Still have access to all your apps, your phone will work pretty much the same. Though how your phone looks is of least importance. The most important part is all the phone features will still work the same and your monthly bill will be cut in half. The only way you would see cricket all in your phone if the person flashing your phone debrands your phone

When you flash a phone to Cricket, does that mean you can't flash any custom ROMs? Root? What about official updates? I can get a Nexus S 4g off of Craigslist for $225, if I had it flashed to Cricket, would I still get all the OTA updates from Google? I know it wouldn't have 4g of course. Thanks.
