Where do we really go when we die?

That's it! No resurrection with a possibility of everlasting life, being made perfect,no more wickedness, and all that God's word promises. That would definitely be a huge bummer! Hmmm, I think I'll have faith( (the assured expectation of things hoped for,the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld) in God's promises. A much better outcome, wouldn't you think?

I also heard that if you get to the end of the rainbow there will be a pot of gold waiting for you. Guess what I have found the end of the rainbow and no pot of gold just wet ground.

Look at it this way if your wrong you won't even know it.

But, if everlasting life in paradise is possible(Jesus referred to it as the real life),even after death through the resurrection, wouldn't you even be slightly curios as to how that would be possible. Think about it,were talking everlasting life in Paradise,Wow! EDIT: Revelation chapter 20 brings up the fact that there will be 2,count em,2 resurrections of mankind. How bout that! Bet ya didn't know that?

Well, granted men did write the bible but I think 2 Timothy 3:16 says it best, all scripture is inspired of God. Men may disappoint us at times, after all we are not perfect(thanks to Satan,Eve,and Adam). Do you really think the creator(the All Wise,All Powerful,Abundant in Loving-Kindness)of all that exists would let anyone,or anything stand in the way of fullfilling his purpose's and promises. No, not even Satan stands a chance(he is cast into the lake of fire and sulphur in Revelation chapter 20)

I used to think if I was good, I would go to heaven. But then I read the bible. If you really want to know the truth, and want to go to heaven, its pretty simple. Just ask Jesus into your life and give your life to him. Its all spelled out in the new testament pretty clear. I really like how Paul explains it in the book of Romans.

Hope this helps somebody....
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved

again you are quoting something from a book written by a man hundreds of years after these events took place. Show something god wrote himself. Not what men wrote down that he said. If god gave us free will to choose who to follow. Why would he turn around and say if you dont follow me you will burn in hell for all eternity. Ithen he says but if you follow me enjoy eternal life with him. So if we have free will to choose from god. Then why does he use scare tactics and also bribes to get people to follow him? Wouldn't god rather keep it a secret to get true followers? Every time man made a choice that god didn't like he would strike them down. So where's the free will in that?

You say the bible is gods word? Then why did Martin Luther write his own bible as he didn't agree with the other one? So how is his version gods word. That's why I see it as the bible is the word of man and not god. So you are promised something in the bible by a man and not god.

If there is one god. Then why do we have so many different religions following the same god. Saying their religion is right one. That shows me no one knows what gods will is. They only guess as to what god teachings are. So man guesses on what god soul approve and disapprove on how to live by gods word.

God isn't breaking his neck to set the worlds religions straight as what he wants done. So the bible isn't the word of god.

It actually is God's word. There are a little over 300 translation errors in the King James version.Man did decide to use the stronger meaning of a word like damnation instead of judgement,or Hellfire instead of Gehenna,Hell instead of the Grave(no where in the bible does it say that God is going to torture people). With a little research into the the bible(I have a Jewish-English Tanakh,A Greek-English new testament,a Strongs concordance with Vines included)as the second chapter of proverbs points clearly, one can discern the Truth. The whole issue in the start of Genesis was Satan challenged Gods right to rule. Implying that Eve could make her own decision on how live and not Die(she and Adam chose Satans way and lost Gods protection). God created us and knows what is best for us(just like a wise and loving Father who only wants what's best for his children.) If we choose to be obedient(out of Love for him)he will guide us, he will protect and preserve us(but we have to chose,it can't be forced upon us),or we could chose to follow Satan who will lead us off to many woes, including everlasting Destruction. If God was cruel and was going to torture Adam and Eve forever he would have told them that if they ate from the tree of of the knowledge of good and evil then not only would they die but that he would torture them forever. He told them no such thing. The gift that God gave Adam and Eve was everlasting life, the opposite of which is everlasting death. They had the free will to chose Life or death. Love God or love Satans ways. Has Satan and his wicked system been able to cure hunger, hatred, war, pain, and death. Quite the contrary:they are the cause of all are suffering. Are gift for choosing to love God is the cure for all are suffering caused By Satan,Eve,and Adam.

Perhaps but that doesn't mean that's what actually occurs. In fact, NOBODY knows what really happens. The dead can't speak up and tell us if they are in heaven or hell. My idea of people who have passed rotting away in the ground is what really takes place. Not some unrealistic idea of people flying to a pearly gate and a Saint allowing us passage into "heaven"

In reference to the bible discussion above, I think it was written by many men over time. The interpretation has also been lost in the original book. Great stories overall but it isn't anything more than just a method to have people live their lives correctly/properly.

I knew it. I went to a Christian school for 11 years, a few Bible study classes for years after that, and many many discussions with teachers, pastors, etc who were very familiar with everything in the Bible. It was learning so much about it that led me to become an atheist. Any other book with so many inconsistencies, contradictions, and unsupported claims would be harshly ridiculed for a moment, then dismissed and forgotten. The Bible and religion in general on the other hand gets everything excused with things like "We can't know God's plan" and "God works in mysterious ways" without a hint of irony.

Yes, eternal life in paradise would be hugely preferable to my existence simply ending. Unfortunately my preference has absolutely no bearing on what every shred of evidence tells me about how the world really works. I cannot force myself to believe something that because the completely unverifiable promised payoff for my belief is really really attractive. Especially when the thing I'm asked to believe seems designed to disprove itself and the biggest arguments in its favor are along the lines of "it's true because it says it is" and "I can feel in my heart that it's true".

Not to many people spend enough time in God's word to know there is going to be 2 resurrections. Unfortunately,The apostle Paul mentioned in his second letter to the Thessalonians chapter 2 that the Apostasy(False teaching's and doctrine) had to come first, before the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. Was there many different christian religions in the apostle Paul's day? NO, there was only one true christian faith. Same as today. If you truly want to(James 4:7-8)submit yourself therefore to God. Resist the devil(and he will flee from you),Draw nigh to God(and he will draw nigh to you),then God will reveal himself to you through his Son, and his word (which,if you get rid of the false teachings you will see does not contradict it self, man may but the truth doesn't).Then you will gain access to the road that is narrow and cramped(not an easy road to travel),that leads off to LIFE. Psalms 145:20 put it best; The Lord preserveth all those that LOVE him, but all the wicked he will destroy(notice it didn't say he was going to torture the wicked)
