instaleed leedroid this morning and i cant get my sms notification sound to work. incoming calls vibrate and ring ok, but just virate with sms.

ive looked at all the settings and there seems no explanation. googled it and seen a couple of others with same prob but nobody answered their questions.

any idea what could be causing this?

thanks

Have you done a data restore with titanium yet?

most of my apps were already there when i booted, but yes i went into titanium and restored 'apps and data' for each app. is that what you mean or am i missing something else?

thanks

EDIT: just gone back into titanium and restored all the data i can find but made no difference.

I was wondering if perhaps too much had been restored. Data between roms is incompatible and causes conflicts. Things like this are usually due to something being restored that shouldnt be.

With titanium you must be very selective. Only use "restore missing apps WITH data" and then you must deselect all the data and settings that pertain to your previous rom.

Try a wipe and see if the issue persists. If it fixes it, data restore is the culprit.

just to be sure before i go ahead, are you recommending a full wipe/factory reset followed by installing the rom again? and then see if the sound is fine? then add missing apps with data to see if that alters anything?
and what data would pertain to the previous rom? what would that selection be in titanium so i can avoid it? :)
or do i just go into titanium and hit restore missin apps with data and strictly ONLY that.

thanks

sorted thanks. id as you suggested and reinstalled it, and restored apps and data one by one in case there was one in particular. but they all went on ok and ive got the notification sound now. dont know why, cos its exactly the same set up as before, same apps, but hey, im not complaining :)

thanks

oh no, its happening again, this time on redux!!

so ive done as before, wiped and re-installed. and its sort of getting there.

ive set it to vibrate always, and tried the default ringtones. incoming call is fine, but it wont play the 'nostalgia' sound that ive always used before. but it vibrates and plays anything else.

sms tho is a different matter. wont vibrate at all. and wont play nostalgia either. i can choose a different sound and itll play it softly, but no vibrate. i need vibrate on for texts.

i could maybe assume my nostalgia file is dead, and try and get it from somewhere else, but anyone know why this might be happening, so i can try and sort it properly? i still havent restored any apps or data yet, so im just on the rom itself.

thanks

nostalgia is not a ringtone that comes with redux so the only way that could possible be showing as an option is if the wipe didnt work / wasnt done properly or some data has been restored.

thats an interesting point. all my mp3s and personal ringtones are still there in 'music'. i assumed theyre on the sd card, and a wipe just wipes the phone. am i wrong there? could you explain whats wiped when i do a wipe/reset, and a wipe cache please?

and if as youre suggesting, they shouldnt be there, then what might i be doing wrong? think ive followed all instructions to the letter.

thanks

EDIT: btw, i dont back up my music with titanium, only my apps and data, is this right?

How are you doing a reset? Via recovery? It should wipe all the data, settings and apps.

Dont worry about the music as they are on SD card and those databases will be rebuilt on boot up / opening of the music player.

yep, thats what i thought, on the sd card. yes ive wiped via recovery, after backing up apps and data with titanium. ive been using nostalgia which was downloaded ages ago and kept with my mp3s, so thats maybe why its still there. previous roms have all allowed me to set it as a ringtone and notification tone, but redux wont recognise it for some reason.

i spose its no biggie, i can try and d/load it from somewhere else. any idea what file type i need to search for?

and can you think of any reason why the phone will vibrate and ring on incoming calls, but wont vibrate with sms notifications? id like to get it sorted before i try restoring apps and data, just in case that messes something up too.

this rom also seems to have 'lost' my personal data from my ak notepad app :-( shame as im quite liking its simplicity and looks. i can see myself staying with it if i could just iron out these few problems.

Oh its a downloaded ringtone. Thats different then.
In SMS app, Menu>Settings>Notifications>Vibrate, whats set?

grrr why are you so clever!!! (or am i just dim!!) :)

yup, it was set to 'never', so ive set it to always. i was looking in 'settings' 'sounds'.

thanks for that. wheres the best place to look for custom ringtones? and what file type are they? mp3?

id like to get the nostalgia one working again as i like my phone to sound like a phone :)

thanks a lot
