I finally got around to rooting my bolt yesterday, and I've removed all the bloat. I was going to throw a Gingerbread ROM on there, but I'm reading about several issues they all seem to have, so I'm just going to hold out until someone pushes an official GB build that can be flashed in recovery. To my point --> I have (what I believe to be the MR2 radio, not the RUU). Can this be flashed and used on the stock ROM (pre-MR1)?

Also, how can I verify that it is just the radio and not the RUU?

Any help is appreciated :)

im a lil confused by this question...

if you want to run perfect storm 1.5,plane jane v3,or flywheight, youll need to flash the mr2 radio. if you waNT perfect storm 1.4 or below, youll need the mr1 radio.

does that help?

Yea, I'm just wondering if I have to flash the MR1 radio (the first update) before I can flash the MR2 radio or if I can just use the MR2 radio and load the ROM through CWR.

oooooh i gotcha. no,if you are on the original radio(223) you can go directly to the mr2 or 2.5. you dont need to update to the mr1 radio first :)

I flashed MR2 and PS 1.5. They work great no reboot problems. Camera works fine. I recommend PS 1.5 if you want to use MR2 on a non GB rom.

Awesome. I might give it a able tomorrow. I'd like Gingerbread but I see a lot of issues. Especially with the camera. Cane gave the best of all worlds I guess. GPS and camera should be good for now lol

Well, I flashed the radio and perfect storm, installed a few apps. All was well... now I can't download any apps anymore from the marketplace... They just sit there and say downloading. This is the same crap I had to deal with on my X and why I went back to stock. Any suggestions to resolve this? Perfect Storm is lightning fast (pun intended) and I'd like to keep using it for awhile.

UPDATE: It started working again :)

what exactly is happening when you try and download apps? describe in as much detail as possible :) ive never experienced anything like this before on any of my TB roms.

It did this on several Droid X ROMs I had used as well...

Try clearing the Market data in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All then select Market. Reboot and you should get the Market apps to install. I believe it's trying to update itself which causes the apps to stall.

I did this and it didn't work, at least not right away. Everything is right as rain again. In any case, I would select an app to download, hit download, it would say it was, but there would be no progress. It would just say "Downloading".

Side note, turned off wifi from the notification bar, and bam. Random reboot. I'm not liking that... Only 30 minutes in... Never had one on the last radio I had. I'm hoping it was a bug in the wifi :) fingers crossed :D

Thanks for the quick responses folks

And... now I'm not getting 3G... sigh

UPDATE: I reflashed the radio and still no 3G. Any advice?
try toggleing airplane mode on for a few seconds. usually makes 3g come back for me when it disappears

again,mr2 was likely canceled for a reason. you might honestly be better off on a GB rom. i dont even remember when the last random reboot i had was.

an unfortunate possibility,is that it could be a hardware issue... if you had random reboots on a stock rom,you may have them on any rom/radio you try.

*edit this is assuming you havent tweeked any kernel settings. if you have over clocked extremely high(>1.4) or undervolted your kernel, those things can cause instability and reboots.

Can someone tell me how I can tell the difference between a MR1, MR2 and MR2.5 Radio?

mr1=1st official OTA
mr2 was leaked 2nd ota that has been probably canceled
mr2.5 is a leaked radio thats newer than mr2. the full RUU that goes with it has not been leaked, just the radio.

mr1 is used for most froyo roms, and cm7/OMFGB.

the other 2 are used for the mr2 based froyo roms(there are only a couple) and for the leak official GB OTA.

hope that helps, cause im not sure what else we could tell you about them. :)

ROFL, I'm an idiot. Somehow mobile data was turned off. Derp! All is good now.

Can someone tell me how I can tell the difference between a MR1, MR2 and MR2.5 Radio?

As far as I know MR1 was the last radio update that came in OTA. That's the one that fixed people GPS issues and helped with 3G/4G handoffs, but caused random reboots.

MR2 was a leaked radio that was supposed to be released on 6/15 or 6/30, but it never happened. It is supposed to fix the reboot issues and some other problems as well. Whether it did or not is still up for grab.

MR2.5 is another leak with more fixes and mixed reviews. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong on that.
