Verizon Seems to be changing to tiered data plans on the 7th of July (Is this still true?)

If yo do not sign a new contract before July 7th, you will have tiered data (Away around this?)

I was really waiting for the Droid Bionic or Samsung SGS2/ Function.

I can either 1-purchase the charge from amazon for 139 and be done with it

OR

I can buy the phone from costco for 189, and maybe if a better phone comes out within 90 days, exchange it for that one.

I just ordered a Charge from Amazon. We're on a family plan of 5 and two do not have smartphones or a data plan so we're upgrading everyone to the unlimited plan. Basically, if you do not already have an unlimited data plan through Verizon and sign up for one after the 7th, you'll be subject to the new tiered plan. If you already have the unlimited plan, then you can stay on it for the rest of your life. As long as you don't stop being a Verizon customer, if you leave the company and come back then you will be on the tiered plan.

this is half correct. if you are on a unlimited data plan with a feature phone, you will still be subject to the new tier data plans. if how ever you have a smartphone unlimited data plan it will grandfather so long as you never take a smartphone off the account. ie..... if your smartphone say gets wet and you swap to a flip phone just till you can get your new phone you lose the unlimited data plan. there is no getting it back. so make sure when you do upgrade keep a smartphone as backup. hope this helps.

Yes, me too, but only for the SGS2.

That is EXACTLY what my friend and I are doing doing. We each bought a Droid Charge last week, and so far are very happy with it. It's a great phone (Note, I didn't say incredibly amazing, as I would say for the SGS2). I'm coming from a Verizon Touch Pro 2 ported with Android. I'm checking daily for news on the SGS2 for Verizon. Hopefully it'll be released within 90 days of my purchase.

BTW, Costco price is $179, 90 day full return policy, fully warrantied through Verizon, and comes with car charger and leather case. Very good deal. I got a class 4 32GB micro SD card (some people have gotten class 2).

Yeah, I second the Costco thing. I was originally just gonna wait it out until a dual-core LTE phone came out (I had the Charge previously), but in light of the new tiered plans coming in 3 days, I decided to get the Charge from Costco and hope for a Bionic or SGS2 in 90 days.

are you guys referring to the 90 day return period for costco?

Doesn't that not matter, since you only have 14 days from verizon to return a new phone to keep your upgrade?

In other words, if you pass 14 days, but return your phone to costco within the 90 days, you still lose your upgrade from verizon right?

I bought mine from amazon, and although they have a 30 day policy, i was told i had to return in 14 days to get my upgrade back.

I mean, unless you are counting on the SGSII going to costco.
