make sure you are using a program like jzip to remove the files.
winzip and winrar mess up the packing in the tar so you want be able to flash with it.
if you are wanting to do a nand backup before you go through with this you will need to flash the recovery to galaxo recovery 4.4 from drakaz.
do a nandroid backup
flash firmware

if you need to revert back you will need to put the custom recovery back on (as its overwritten by odin) and restore nandroid backup

Informale,
thanks again! I will remove the chace.img from the tar file as well.

Rastaman,
I`m sorry but I did not get what you mean by "galaxo recovery 4.4 from drakaz".
I do not use the Galaxo Rom, so is it necessary to make a galaxo recovery?

I`m using the Linux Ubuntu to remove the AMSS and CACHE.IMG from the tar file. Should I need to use jzip as well?
In Linux I can open the tar file very easyly.

Do you have a step by step how to backup the phone before start flashing? I'm confuse now, cause I don`t know what kind of recovery should I have to do!

:)

Ok, I was reading about the nandroid backup here:
Full backup/restore for Samsung Galaxy with nandroid | receptorBlog

And I did not figure if this backup will help me in case of failing with Odin.
For example: something went wrong when i was flashing my phone to the new firmware IK5, this backup will help me in something? Am I be able to restore everything?
In case I did not make the backup with nandroid, is it possible to restore the phone using another method / via?

Same/Same as the other Canadians so far.
Bell Mobility Samsung Galaxy i7500L info:

Model #: GT-I7500L
Firmware vers.: 1.5
Baseband vers.: I7500BMIK6
Kernel 2.6.27
Build #: 76XXCSDCBALUM6375

Output from ADB device list
-> List of devices attached
-> I7500JYpraPx1Wc device

That "Android sys info" app hangs often when trying to run it and it is reporting the wrong model too.

Guys!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After reading a lot from update firware to the i7500L model, I decided to update my phone!

Everything went well and good in the Odin, but after all the installation, it just got stuck when trying to reset!!!
Did I just brick my phone??????? :(

I just pulled off the battery and set back again and I could enter in the downloading mode again!

I tried the Odin again, but I just had the same issue in the end of installation!

Who is the Hero that will help me?? I will post a video from the last update!
Wait a minute!!!

My good, I'm shacking here.... :(

Judging by the "3/3 Finished." I suppose you did remove cache.img and amss. (Oh, yeah, you showed that in the video)

As I remember, if you damaged the tar by using WinZip or smth similar, Odin would not flash the firmware at all (folks, correct me if I'm wrong here). But still, what program did you use to edit your TAR?

Hmm. Try recovery mode (VOL down + Start Call + End Call, then Home or Menu button - don't remember exactly.).

Informale,
I just used Ubuntu to remove all the Cache and AMSS files from TAR.

But I opened with jzip before starting the flashing...

I just tried the recovery mode as you mentioned, and it showed me a yellow box... Then I push the Menu botton and the box opened!

But, after that the phone tried to reset and I'm stucked again!

Do you believe it's some problem in the TAR file?

I dunno, I can't find that forum post, where someone used WinZip, and I don't remember if Odin allowed to flash it. I cannot think of another reason, cause you seem to have done everything correct.

I personally used Total Commander's internal archiving engine to remove the files from tar and it worked perfect for me.

I'm downloading right now the TAR file direct from FUS downloader, as you mentioned in some posts before!
The one I donwloaded was from a crazy link I found in internet!

Do you believe Jzip is better than using Ubuntu to delete the AMSS and CaCHE.img from the TAR file?

I will no longer uses Ubuntu... Let's see...

My phone is not bricked cause I can enter in the recovery and downloading modes... Right? :(:(:(

Yes, it's not considered bricked until you can re-flash the firmware or boot in different modes ;)

I don't know about Jzip, but Rastaman-FB said it's good, and apparently that's the one he's used, so it should be fine.

Consider downloading other firmware versions as well. Some of them come in multiple TARs (II5?). Worth a try, esp. if you won't be able to boot with IK5.

Do you know how to download II5?
Do you know the the specific numbers of PDA, PHONE AND CSC for the II5, in the FUS Downloader?

Thanks a lot for your help, my friend! I really appreciate that!

I'll try with the new file again... Finger crossed! :)
