do you still get the same lockscreen?
--yes.

can you still not use HTC widgets?

Ok. Wiped the SD card (again) and factory reset the phone. Completed blue tooth sync; logged into market and installed Launcher Pro. No lag. I have not installed any add-ons or configured anything.

I will do the time tested install an app; retest the drawer...

Changes:

- Installed the HTC "update" that comes up for the widgets and stuff after the factory reset. Everything stil working well

-Set Launcher as default app. No change still smooth

I think I have found the culprit. Once i started changing preferences I was fine until I selected "High quality scrolling" under the advanced menu. Once I did that the app drawer lagged, even after un-checking it. Tried clearing data- No change

I then tried uninstalling the app and it still is lagging. About to clear SD card to see if that works...

-Cleared SD card; no change. Restoring to factory settings!

I think the problem is rendering the images. This wont happen though if you don't have a lot of apps. Same thing happens when you scroll in the Market app. The only other launcher I do not see any lag in scrolling is Go Launcher. I think IMO its better than LP Pro. The themes are awesome. Marry it with colorize widget to get your fb, agenda, bookmark, twitter widgets.

no, the problem can't be rendering the images, since setting the 3d option on "fixes" it
the same thing doesn't happen with the market, and it's not the scrolling that's lagging in the first place (like mentioned a couple of times already), it's the opening/closing the app drawer

I know that with the OG EVO, once it got the Gingerbread update people started noticing the same lag with Launcherpro and even LPP. It was chalked up as general concensus that LP just had issues running properly on Gingerbread. I use ADW EX and there is no lag whatsoever. If you're looking for a good free alternative, check out GO Launcher.

I notice when I open the installed app catalog on my phone (apps), that the phone scrolls vertically by page, and that each page is separated by a horizontal line. I also notice that as I scroll down the apps, page by page, the dividing line gets out of sync.. Eg, starts to travel up the page, pretty much rendering it useless. Anyone else notice this?

Yep - it's a known issue that seems to move about a bit.

If you look at the process CPU monitors and do some list scrolling, it causes the CPU to spike to maximum.

In my case, I cured this with rooting and a bit of overclocking with netarchy's kernel.

The app drawer working in pages, by the way, was introduced in Sense 2.1.

The scrolling lag issue will show up in other places, such as the Market lists, for example.

My HTC Sensation 4G exhibits the same problem when scrolling through lists. This is annoying as hell while my friends Nexus S flies all over the damn place!

Note to HTC: You don't know how to code. Stop with it! You can make merry in your wet dreams but give us the option, as users paying $500, to kick sense to the curb like the dirt it is.

PS I am using GO Launcher EX which is awesome.

Some people like Sense.

But it's a big software stack and it comes at a price.

If you don't care for it, root your phone and drop it altogether - nothing wrong with that.
