Root I need... blur_yahoo.apk

However, when i try to install it, it says "install unsuccessful.

I emailed it to myself, and tried to install it from gmail. Also downloaded it to sdcard and tried installing it using astro, and no go on that either. Know what im doing wrong?

Use Root Explorer to move it to /system/app/.

Ok, Tried that. I was able to put the .apk in the /system/app folder, but it still doesnt install. When i click install after moving it to that folder it comes back with the same "did not install" message. I also noticed there is a .odex file under each .apk file, But not under the blur_yahoo.apk file. What am i doing wrong here!!!

Unfortunately, I can't give you the files in question, but I can tell you what to do and what you're doing wrong.

You don't want to "Install" it at all. What you want to do is move the blur_yahoo.apk and blur_yahoo.odex files to /system/app, then long press on them and change their permissions to:

Owner/User: Read/Write
Group: Read
Other: Read

Then reboot. Don't launch the APK or install it. Just reboot, and it'll come up happy.

You could try the files from the Odexed Gingerbread release of the Droid X that I posted here:

No promises, though. Someone needs to post both the APK and the ODEX file for you.

this is a tad late, but you can also rename files to .bak in root explorer or move them using batch to another location on an SD card. If you do that though, you will need to change their permissions to:

Owner/User: Read/Write
Group: Read
Other: Read

I personally recommend renaming them instead of freezing...but it does the same thing.

I performed the above, but still am unable to edit contacts anymore. Is there something I'm missing?

If all else fails, it's time to SBF back to stock. Be sure you back up everything first so you don't lose any important files.

After that, go here to get the proper SBF file depending on the version you are running (Froyo, Gingerbread):

You also want RSD lite as well to install the SBF. Just choose which SBF you want to install.

I've had the same issue for about a week now. Where do I find the /systems/app folder? I can't find them anywhere.
