Root Trouble with Community Rom 1.3 on wife's Fascinate.

I recently put community_rom_1.3_test2.zip on my phone, and it's been working great. Wife wants the same thing on her stock 2.2 phone.

I used SuperOneClickv1.6.5-ShortFuse to root her phone. Then did a Titanium backup. Tried to do a Nandroid backup, but kept getting an error message.
I then used Odin3 to put CWM v3.0.2.8x.11 on it, then used CWM to install community_rom_1.3_test2.zip.

Now when I boot up the phone, it hangs forever at the Samsung logo. I finally had to Odin EB01_DXC.tar.md5, which got me back to where I started.

Tried repeating the above, and again it won't boot past the Samsung logo.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, because this process seemed to work on my own Fascinate.

How were you attempting to do a Nandroid backup prior to flashing CWM? Also, I've found that CWM 3.0.X does not do Nandroid backups on my phone (continuously get a "failed" message) so I reverted back to 2.5 and its been fine so far. Using 2.5 I was successfully able to backup and flash Community Rom 2.0 w/PBJ -50 kernal on both mine and my wife's phone.

Additionally, my wife and I are both still on EB01 with the new Com Rom with no problems (its the only version that has given me instant GPS lock since I've had this phone).

It was my understanding that I couldn't do a Nandroid backup with the stock Verizon; I had to root and install CWM first?

I take it that "Community Rom 2.0 w/PBJ -50 kernal" is more recent than the one I was installing? If so, can you tell me where to download it? And CWM 2.5.1 too, if you would be so kind. Then I'll try those.

On my own Fascinate, the one I was able to have success with the community_rom_1.3_test2.zip file, it shows Baseband EB01...is that the one you're referring to for the instant GPS? Because mine isn't really instant...I still have to fiddle about with GPS Aids and GPS Status to get it to lock.

{List}[6.28.11] *VZW* CDMA i500 Roms/Kernels/Radios/Mods - xda-developers

This thread is a veritable cornucopia of information and tools.

[RECOVERY] [3/30/11] Updated ClockworkMod for ALL ROMs - xda-developers

This is the recovery that is running on both my wife and I's fascinates. It is a 2.5.x red recovery that will do Nandroid backups and successful wipes of everything necessary prior to installing anything new. You can download and install the .zip from an earlier recovery or download and install the .tar from Odin... which is what I would recommend.

[RELEASE] EB01 rom, kernel, radio - xda-developers

This is the EB01 ROM, Kernal and Radio. It's stock, bloated but comes pre-rooted so there's no need to run any external root application to get SU permissions and busybox. Install these as per the instructions in the thread after flashing the recovery listed above. Since you will already be on 2.5 after flashing the Modem and ROM, there will be no need to reflash it so ignore the 3rd step, cause that'd just be redundant and silly. After flashing the Modem and ROM let the phone boot as normal before installing anything else. Then once you boot back into recovery you can properly wipe everything prior to a new install.

[Rom]{6.20.11}[ED01] ComRom 2.1 (ukb) *2.1 patch added (flash over 2.0) - xda-developers

This is ComRom 2.1, scroll down to post #4 for installation instructions (ignore the CWM 3.X part, using 2.5 worked like a charm for me on two different phones). Post #5 will contain the download links for the various ROM/Kernal packages. We're both running the UKB 2.0 with -50 Voodoo Kernal. I have not yet installed the 2.1 patch because the change log didn't seem to be anything absolutely necessary since 2.0 was running splendidly.

Hope this was helpful. If you have anymore questions let me know.
