Netflix on prevail

I don't have a netflix account so I can't verify this but I stumbled on this when I was trying to make hulu work on mine. If it works let me know ;)

http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2011/05/13/how-to-install-netflix-on-most-android-devices/

basically you're going to modify two lines of your build.prop to make netflix think you are on a supported device.

I rooted my prevail, managed to download the netflix app, got super user access edited the build.prop with both htc and nexus one, and i cannot get this to work no matter what I do! everything worked, I have root access, but when I put in my netflix user name and password it thinks, then shuts down the app. i am so close, and many hours in to this already, dose ANYONE have a successfullly working samsung galaxy prevail with netflix app?

are you kidding me? this isnt some bullshit of your phone is blocked guys.. you dont have the files, they are gingerbread only

I have accepted the fact that it does not work, but I have one question. The drm librarys; seeing as htc made them for froyo could they be used or ported to work for a samsung running froyo? I'm sure they answer in no, but I'm just wondering. :)

I do not believe he is saying netflix uses flash.
I believe he is say LIKE flash the probability of getting it to work is slim.
Oh, thank gosh. I was super confused. lol. I am currently communicating with my friend who has an HTC Evo running 2.2. Netflix is working for him, and he is looking into this. Any clue where the Library's would be stored?

I thought an evo ran a different cpu, one that is supported by adobe?

ok just looked here
http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=2665

and yep as I thought it runs the 1ghz snapdragon cpu which is supported.

I think I may have misread your post, netflix is another matter maybe using that information could help get it on the prevail.

I was leaning toward the idea that his Evo is still running 2.2, which means it has the HTC Froyo drm library's.

youd have to have him run a logcat of it starting up and decompile the apk to see if it packs anything, check the xml to see what files are called :)

Thank you for a starting point. Do you think the Library's are used/active at application start up or only when you are streaming the drm protected content?

I used the lg optimus m (a similarly priced/featured phone) for about 2 days and could watch netflix with little problems. Only problem was metros 1x internet. That phone was a 600 mhz single core running android 2.2.1. Not even a lag, just some color seperation and a green line across the top. no hacks needed, but I did download it from the internet because my build.prop was not compatable.
