Looking for a very specific call blocking app

I know there are lots of call blocking apps out there, some of them are great. But I still haven't found one that allows me to do this: when you block a number, all of the apps I've seen so far either make the caller go directly to the voice mail, or pick up and hang up. This makes it pretty obvious that you're blocking that number. Is there an app that makes the caller listen to the normal "ring" sound instead? (It would seem like you're not answering the phone call, it's a little less obvious). Also, I don't even want to notice when the call comes in. I'm dealing with a very complicated situation and I want to make sure this person never contacts me again and changing my phone number is not an option for me at the time.

If it's the same number all the time - use the phone recorder and record a minute of silence. Put that in the ringtone folder, and assign it as a ringtone to that number. The number will have to be in your contacts. It will go to voicemail, but just like you didn't answer it. I've always done this with none android phones.

Which apps have you tried? This one says the phone will appear to ring as normal, then go to voicemail. Or don't you want the voicemail feature?

Alternatively, you could contact your provider and ask for the number to be barred or isn't that an option either?

I just saw it but I have a question: When it says "Mute call, caller will hear the normal ring and then voice mail" does it mean that my cell phone will still see when I receive the call but with no sound? Because I really don't even want to know when this person is calling.

I've not used it so can't say for sure. I presume that yes, the call will still come through but it will be muted and you'll have the missed call. Might be worth emailing the dev to find out for sure.

I know with Google Voice you can send specific calls directly to voicemail. The call does not ring through.

I haven't tried the block feature but I'm assuming the call doesn't ring through either.

For example I have my work go directly to voicemail so I can screen the message when and if I want. They often call on my days off to come in and work. I don't want it ringing through because I know what they want and it bothers me all day.

Two options for you - one easy, one complicated.

The easy one - contact your service provider. If this situation is "very complicated" like it sounds, then they could probably put a number block on for one person. They may charge you a small fee - but it might be worth it. You could always have the block removed after a few months to save the money.

The complicated one - like everyone always says, "use Tasker"! Set up a profile that, when the call comes in from that specific number, it silences the ringer and turns off the display. The person will still end up getting your voicemail, mind you, but you won't really know they called unless you look at your call log? There might even be a way to have Tasker play a sound over the phone, I'm not sure... this way you could even have the person think your number was disconnected! (Get an mp3 file of the ole "The number you have dialed is not in service." line!)

If not ever hearing from this person again is that important to you, I would highly suggest option A.

If you want to know whether or not call was seen - check your call log. It usually logs everything, incoming and outgoing.
Using the silent ring - would never hear the spammers, and wouldn't know they had called until I checked the call log.
