So I just got a droid x from a buddy... rooted with z4root. Got a couple cool apps and some questions...
How do I know if im running. 340 or. 596 or. 666 or what ever they are?
What's the difference?
What should I have?
I've always used LP and I can't live without it. Any roms I might like?
What else should I do?

And on my old droid1, I has every angry birds level dominated. They were saved to my sd card. But they don't show up on the new x... wtf is the deal!!! Can I get em on here?

Yeah, if you take that you won't have root access anymore.
As far as Angry Birds, you could try backing up the data for that app using Titanium Backup and then restoring on your X.
To get a rooted version of the GB OTA (which is .596), you'll have to install it from recovery using Team Black Hat's 2 part file. It can be found on My Droid World I believe.
I use Launcher Pro as well, and have since my OG Droid. It still runs perfectly smoothly for me.
Check out the ROMs section for ROMs and read up on them all!

And when you SBF back to stock, and you're gonna have to in order to flash those two files from THB, I would recommend you use this method to do it. It's much easier.

To answer your question, Team Black Hat took the OTA of Gingerbread, broke it down, and manually added the necessary files to have root access and to deodex it. Something you cannot do with the OTA if you allow your phone to update to it.

Deodexing is a must do if you want to have a theme on your phone. Just check out the Stickies for more info on deodexing and rooting.

to me, if you are new to rooting, you must learn how to sbf first, with rsd lite or the cd, i prefer rsd lite as i just plug and go, it takes me 5-10 mins to flash froyo back on my phone. but you must learn how to sbf first as if you dont your kinda going to make a post "helped bricked my phone" and we are going to tell you how to sbf :p always learn to sbf before you begin messing with your phone.

I second this. If you are going to be modding your phone in anyway, sbf'ing is the first thing you should learn to do, and know how to do it very well.
