Where is the EXCITMENT?!

I am getting a Photon when they finally come out. Was going to buy the EVO 3D and have been dying with my crappy Samsung Moment just waiting for it to come out. Read the horrible reviews and figured I should wait and try one..so went to the sprint store this weekend to check out the EVO 3D. I hated it!!!! The 3d gave me a headache and some of the pictures made me dizzy....if you want to see what it feels like just stare at the tip of your nose and feel yourself going cross-eyed! I know people are saying just use it in 2d, but the screen looks much dimmer then even the old EVO thanks to the 3d layer on top..and the viewing angle sucks in 2d as well. Add in that you end up with a 5mp camera and a big ugly useless double camera sticking out the back and I was done!

I will never buy another Samsung phone after the moment...they are horrible with updates and I think their GPS system sucks....even my friends Epic had a crappy GPS, although they claimed to have fixed it. My GPS is useless...but on the EVO I sometimes use it is perfect. Does Motorola have a decent GPS??

Serious advice to anyone...go use the EVO 3D before buying one...look at some 3D pictures in the gallery, watch the movies etc. If it doesn't bother you then buy it..the 3D effect is pretty cool....if you are like me you will pay not to have to see it again. I think we could use the Evo 3D in place of waterboarding to get people to talk. Remember I wanted to buy one and loved the specs.

Hahaha...I got dizzy too! But, at the same time, I didn't mind the 2d settings. I do agree that the viewing angles of the 3d screen did kinda have a weird effect, even in 2d.

Nontheless, I'm just happy they announced the photon prior to releasing the 3d because I didn't jump the gun and place a pre-order.

Hmmm, Droid HD?
Motorola DROID HD leaked online – latest unnamed Motorola device : MobileAttack.com

Is This Blurry Image the New Motorola Droid Bionic or Something Else?

I wonder which carrier is getting that device. Anybody have a strange feeling, since it was announced that Sprint would release 10 new Motorola devices this year, that there might be something even better than the Photon 4G later down the line? I think that's the only thing that has me slightly concerned about getting the Photon 4G.

I have my doubts that Sprint would do that because announcing the Photon 4G the way that they did would realistically take away a good amount of upgrade sales that they'd get with any other device that would be arguably better, but seeing those articles really has me curious.

Don't most of the Verizon Droids have a red speaker on the front? Not sure if they typically make the demos with the red...but could be a tip off that it might be for Sprint.

Or t-mobile maybe?

Might be an updated version of the Motorola Defy, which came out last October. It's around the perfect time for them to really start putting the final touches on the update for the new version to be available in October/November

The more I think about this, I think burgertime is really on to something regarding the business sector and Sprint may be trying to regain some momentum on that side of the fence with their renewed work with Motorola, starting with the Photon and the Triumph (Virgin), as well as the Motorola XPRT that was recently released. Since there was so much talk about multiple devices that motorola was going to make available through Sprint, another Android device that would fit into that "business sector" would be this one:

New Sprint Motorola Android Phone Exposure | Phones Online

Some of the blogs have mentioned that they think it might be a similar form factor to how the Palm Pre (or HP Pre or whatever they call it now w/ Manny Pacquiao promoting it), as a portrait slider with full qwerty and Android 2.3.

Nontheless, that might've been a device that would've interested me before, but I'm pretty much set on upgrading to the Photon 4G. Already prepared to transition over my EVO to one of my secondary lines.

To me it's just a market that can easily be taken advantage of. I've noticed a lot of corporate types moving to the iPhone and their companies even getting them it for business use. I mean the iPhone for business? I'm not a hater and think it's a great phone but for business? With Blackberry loosing sales left and right I would think Sprint has to see this as a chance to really set the market ablaze and this phone has everything you need to really get it over with your average white collar guy. I was trying to think of any Android phone that was really pushed as a business first phone...has there been? If not, why? I mean it just really makes no sense that someone wouldn't push an Android for the corporate world and slyly put down Blackberry. Just my two cents.

They could be attempting to get ahead of the shift of business users from blackberry to android and IOS phones. The Blackberry has been Sprints business phone, and unless they end up getting the Iphone, they need a business Android phone to handle that shift. It doesn't feel very businesslike to be using a 3D entertainment device!

I think Sprint is really missing out on hammering that they are the only ones left offering unlimited data. I would be running Ads showing ATT and Verizon users scared to watch a youtube video because they were going to run up against their limits. But business users also will want to be able to tether this phone or at least use it with a bluetooth keyboard and dock when on the road...would be really nice not to have a separate data plan for a laptop and a phone. With these great phones and unlimited data Sprint really should be #1 and not number 3.

I know for sure that the company I work for has people using iPhones for business use.

Can't think of a single android phone that was pushed for business purposes. Only reason I can think that it hadn't happened yet is due to "security" reasons. Seems like Motorola thinks they've found the answer to that, with the added security they threw on the Photon.

Wow looks like the EVO 3d has been rooted today. That's a game changer . If that phone gets the same battery life improvement on cm7 as my EVO did, I'm going to have to change my mind and buy that phone instead. They need to produce a release date before that phone takes over like the EVO did.
That community is insanely committed aren't they.
IMO ofcourse.

Yea totally forgot about the security, that had to deal with the Exchange server right? If they have a fix though then this can be a game changer in the market of business phones. Something Android really needs.

Even if it didn't get rooted today, HTC has already said it would unlock it eventually anyway.

Yeah and motor said the same thing about their phones but nothing has happened. I was thinking that if I had to stick withstock for a while, I would much rather prefer the photon. But now that I have found out the low quality photos of the EVO 3d is an screen issue and the photos look great once downloaded to the PC or uploaded to the web, my fears have been unwarranted. Them need to date this puppy already before I jump ship. I am sure the photon is a better smartphone but the EVO has a much better community of developers. It has become a much more difficult for me to chose my next upgrade.

I can't remember exactly what the extra security was for, but it was clear that it was created with business folks in mind, so I would imagine that includes the exchange server (but wouldn't be surprised if it's even deeper than that.

Am I the only one who thinks the Photon is a little over-hyped right now? It has the Tegra2, a locked bootloader and overall looks to be playing catch-up to the 3vo and SGS2. I think the World-phone aspect is pretty cool but overall not really impressed. Maybe I'm just too excited for the Evo3d lol

I wouldnt say that, Im pretty much for keeping a phone stock unless the system is rendered unstable(which is sadly happening to my EVO since updating to GB). So the locked bootloader doesnt bother me. Idk anyone but myself who really knows about this phone coming out.

I personally have had 3 bad Samsung phones in a row so Im not a fan of them. 2 were just simple camera phones that had hardware issues in only a year of owning them after having a Motorola phone last 4 years on me. The other was a smart phone and we know how well Samsung does at keeping the software up to date for those. My EVO(until recently) was the first phone I have liked since my Motorola.

Im not too into the EVO 3D. I mean sure it has some beast specs and could do anything I would ever need it to but Im not into the 3D feature(I dont like 3D movies either) and the lack of a kick stand is disappointing. I do watch a lot of stuff and browse TT while on lunch so the kick stand does come in handy.

That being said and as much as I want this phone Im going to try to hold out on my EVO as long as I can because once a root is found for the GB update Im bailing on it ASAP. Its been nothing but problems that a factory reset didnt solve.

This is almost my entire reason for not jumping all over the Evo 3D. Spec wise its perfect but I just dont want the 3D on my phone for some odd reason. Im not a fan of it, it serves no purpose for me. Id rather that space/memory/whatever be used for something else Id like rather then 3D. Theres also a lot of talk on how 3D movie sales at the theater are starting to drop. The honeymoon might be over. If the overall public starts deciding with their wallets that 3D is only a gimmick then the value of a 3D phone with no 3D apps/games/etc is nill.

I dont know. Maybe Im alone on this one, but Im holding out for the Photon or SGS2 or anything else with similar specs, dual core and a nice resolution screen.

I know that the kickstand is a hit or miss with the masses, but at least I feel even if i never use it, its nice to know its still there in case i do need it. (btw I use it alot) and it boggles my mind how HTC decided not to include it on the so called EVO replacement. Did they do a survey of some sort or did some analyst just decide it wasn't worth it. As for the 3D feature, sure its nice and all and its nice to say you were the first with it, but not everyone can see 3D and those that can do get headaches etc.

I just don't get why the cell phone industry can't take a cue from the automotive industry and make a high end model once and for all that includes everything and the kitchen sink. dual core, 1.5 ghz, 16gb internal (or more)etc etc and then make it not look like a tank. lol

If youre going for nice resolution then you would go Photon. The GS2 is the standard 800x480 or what ever WVGA is. The photon is qHD.
