Help EVO 3D Sound issues

I have been having some trouble with the sound on my HTC EVO 3D. Recently I noticed that even with the Volume pulled all the way up, the phone's exterior speaker doesn't make any noise at all. This includes the clicking sound from my Swype keyboard, the Music app, everything. The only time I seem to hear sound is during a phone call, but only in regular non-speakerphone mode. I tried switching to speakerphone during one of my conversations, and it essentially just muted the person's voice.

I rebooted my phone a few times, and I noticed the sound DID come back, but only temporarily as the phone muted again within minutes. I thought it might be a hardware problem, until I noticed that when I have my phone plugged in to charge the sound works fine. Then when I unplug, the problem returns. Does anyone know of any way to fix this, or will I have to bring my phone in to get checked out? Really hoping this is just a small software bug...

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

phone sounds like its been damaged physically.

have you done a hard reset? if not, try that and report. if it still acts the same way then its defective.

phone is too new to have to worry about issues..

Why would it work when it's plugged in though? That's what makes me think it might be a software thing... If it's defective would they give me a replacement in store? I heard something about Sprint only allowing one replacement per person..... ?

sprint will do the factory reset first so you should go ahead and do the factory reset.

yes its a pain to do however this is usually the easiest method as it will confirm upon power up if the factory reset fixed the issue. if its still acting up right after doing the factory reset, then its for sure defective. you get one or two replacements under the 30 days i think and then you get charged after that.. my memory is flaky on this so someone else will post on that.

They charge 35.00 after 30 days through the warranty period.

Hi, I have been experiencing the same issue as mijito6 except mine is very limited to Outgoing and incoming calls. After restarting my phone, I am able to hear other person's voice but the issues pops again after sometime like 5-10 mins of talk. I am able to hear music, video sound just fine. My phone is a year old now. I am going to take it to the sprint store to see if they can fix it.
