Kickback Code Question

hello!

im getting my optimus today (used; but hey-money is tight)...
i wanted to know how kickback codes work? do i have to sign up for it on the website or can i just use someone's kickback code?

(i searched the forum and only found people posting their codes but i dont know how to go about using one)

if you give me the most informative answer i will use your kickback code! =]
and when i sign up for it i will give you mine in return!

You can use someone else's code one time for a new activation. When you first go to set up your acct online there will be a box to enter it in. VM will give you and the person whose code you use 60 free minutes at some point later on- I didn't get mine til sometime in my second month. You will get a code of your own to pass on to others who're doing new activations. Let me know if this was helpful and I'll dig up my code

does this still apply if im going to a boost mobile/virgin mobile store? do they have to do it and i give them the code? or once its activated-do i go online and do it?

aww and i did read on VM's website that it has to be online. but i will try to do a work around at the store, they have 2 activate online anyway right?? =P

Yeah, I just went to the Kickbacks section on the website to make sure and saw that too. I really have no idea how they do in-store activations, but I'll PM you my code just in case you can use it. And don't worry 'bout giving me yours; I can't use it since I'm already activated- just pay yours forward when you have a chance.

and i just pm u about setting it back to factory default; i figured it out =P
now all i have to do is call VM and make sure the old account is off and i can start my new account. and thanks for all your help!

FWIW, I would recommend anyone who is activating with a kickback code to activate online--since that is technically, the requirement. I was told by three different VM Reps "don't worry, if you have a customer service rep activate the account, they will add the code". That's also technically true- but it took 4 more calls after activation to get it credited.

That being said, the value of the bonus minutes isn't quite what I expected. I am on a 300 minute plan, so I imagined the possibility of approaching my limit occasionally, and assumed any kickback minutes would stay in the account until and unless needed.
However, the procedure used is whenever a call is made/received to apply the kickback minutes, if available, and if there are none, then to take them from the regular montly allotment.- So, if you have 60 bonus minutes and xxx regular, the bonus minutes go first, then your regular minutes.

Since I already had a Skype subscription and a Skype number, once Skype upgraded to work on 3G- which was about a week after I got my Optimus and VM, its a moot point. now.

Yep, that is definitely something people should be aware of (I did tell android kitty that later in PM, IIRC), and something VM should make clear! Not to mention it's just dumb.

yea unfortunately i couldnt do it b/c i had to activate a used phone on the phone and not online. it is dumb. and i cant get phone insurance either...(until i buy the triumph!)

I'm finally activating my Optimus V after a few weeks of using wifi only.

If anyone wants me to use their kick-back code, please PM me. I don't need the minutes necessarily but if you do, I'll use your code.
