markouk See that's where the confusion is though. Microsoft actually owns the technology for multitouch and can dress it in many ways. 90% of the iPhones gestures and interface are ripped off of surface before it was officially surface.
Technically, past Android developers and ex-Google employees have reported that Google made a deal with Apple not to include multitouch so as not to seem like such a threat to the iPhone, but a different OS entirely so as to attract a different user base.
We can see proof of this in multitouch phones overseas, and the Palm pre and pixi which not only do not have Apples blessings for multitouch, but Palm tried to sue them for not letting their devices sync with iTunes.
This is clearly a case of back scratching, and I think Google has weighed the benefits and the costs and has had to say....OK, We have to do this.
