I tried to download / install Google Voice onto my Evo 3D today. After download and install, I could not get Google Voice to run at all. I was truly mystified as to why it wouldn't run.
Then I remembered reading somewhere about "Fast Boot" setting, and I checked under "Menu > Settings > Power" and sure enough Fast Boot was checked on by default.
I unchecked it, rebooted my Evo 3D. Then I got a Swiftkey X error that the language module couldn't be loaded. Then I rebooted one more time, and the Swiftkey X error went away - it ran fine. Then I tried Google Voice, and voila, it worked!!
IMHO this "Fast Boot" option is an unnecessary headache that can cause issues for users, the vast majority of whom will not know that this little setting is the culprit for their app issues.
IMHO this setting should be unchecked, and left off by default. We all want problem free experiences with our phones, and this "feature" causes more headaches than what ever benefit it may bring.
On another note - this Evo 3D is blazing fast!!! I really am appreciating how fast it is. I have been utterly spoiled by the responsiveness.
I used to think my Samsung Epic was fast, and my Evo 4G running CM7 was really fast. But in comparison to the Evo 3D, the Epic is really "slow", and the Evo 4G is definitely not as fast.
It's all relative I guess. When I switched from my Samsung Moment to the Epic, I was blown away by the speed improvement, and the Evo 4G as well. But the Evo 3D's CPU and power is no gimmick - it is mind numbingly fast!!
