Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

Playfulgod, I ran into a problem with my network connection. I Installed your playfulmod and then I did a restore with myback up pro. When I did that it lost all connectivity. It is asking me to insert SIM card that it doesn't have. Now I have installed several custom roms and this is the first time this has happened. Now I reflashed phone with the same rom and no change. I installed a your lastest version of CM7 and still it says the same thing. I am totally lost here. Can you help?

I never touch the min cpu setting and current builds I can only go as high as 729.

you will need to flash back to stock and start over. What you have is called a UIM error, its the nature of the beast with the huawei/metro 2.2.

by flash to stock I mean follow the flash back to stock thread, as in like it was out of the box. Only way to fix a UIM error.

I know it sux, but thats huawei and metro's fine coding for ya ;)
Its the Chinese slave labor--"you will code da Huawei, you will make it suck just enough to drive the Americans batshit crazy! BWAHAHA! then, when they are busy trying to make their phones actually work, WE STRIKE! perfect plan!"

Hello everyone. I still have the stock 2.1 android and thinking about going to CM7, however, I just wanted to weigh the advantages vs the disadvantages and so far I have:

Advantages
• Runs faster and smoother.
• Runs a larger variety of apps.
• App to SD - is this rly an advantage if apps may run slower or not at all?

Disadvantages
• GPS apps do not run properly unless you lock and unlock the screen
• Some apps do not work properly with APP to SD
• Camera does not work properly
• It's possible to brick your phone?

I have not read much into this but can someone point out whats right and whats wrong and possibly add to the list of advantages vs disadvantages.

If you're still on the fence about installing a ROM,I would suggest the following:

1) Root your phone & make a backup of your stock O/S

2) Install ROM MANAGER & use it to partition your SDcard.(Only AFTER you backup your card contents to an external source). Then d/l & install LINK2SD.It will allow you to move user(downloaded) apps to the SDcard.

3) Remove unwanted bloatware as stated in the threads(stickies)in the front of this forum.

4) Install a CPU app of your choosing.

These steps will give you added performance w/o sacrificing functionally.Or,do what most have done when first hitting the scene & install ICARUS 1.1

My phone is an ascend and i flashed the rom to CM7 so its 2.3.4 now. what im wondering is how can i make my phone work more efficiently and how can i make it more fun. any suggestions would be helpful :p

You can try playing around with launchers and themes. There are some apps that will let you create your own icons, too. Maybe you could bebop around the web gathering feeds to get a steady stream of cool stuff coming into your reader. Try out all the different mods and see if you find something that seems to stand out. Grab the Phandroid app and try to catch PlayfulGod with his drink on and mess with him. Kindle and Netflix apps give you a pleasant way to pass time. Mostly, try to find a way to turn off voicemail so it doesn't clash with Google Voice and clue me in. :)

So I'm running the (PlayfulGod's) CM7.1-Ascend-06242011 and I noticed that my sms/mms notification sound quit working. I tried d/ld'ing different sms/mms apps but all result in the same thing. The phone will vibrate when notified, but not trigger the ringtone I've assigned to it (and yes it's a compatible mp3). Any input on how to fix this without re-installing the rom all over again?

i have it also i like it just dont like that the end call bottom puts it to sleep[/QUOT

if you are using 2.3 on ascend go to the spare parts app on your phone and than to end call behaviorand it will give 4 options to choose from nothing, go to home,go to sleep and home, then sleep choose which ever one you'd like

EDIT...
This works!

Perhaps I'm over looking this, but I did notice the "Recent Applications" menu is missing out of the "Phone Options" Menu that you access by holding down the power/end button.

Although its not as convenient as holding down a home button, (Kinda miss that) it was still something I used.

Is it possible to add it back to the list, or perhaps an App that gives another button that feature. (Yes I already have my End Button set to go to home.)

And if not, could it be possible for those programming and developing these ROMS, which work great btw, add it back to the list. Or even give us Ascend users an option that holding a certain button brings up the recent applications.

P.S. to others;
I did recently find that holding the menu button replaces the missing Search Button.

Thanks in advance.

A few days ago I got CM7 0624 running on my girlfriend's phone and mine the same day, first try, everything went very smooth and runs pretty well. It's occasionally unpredictable, the occasional "app not responding" hangs, and every couple of days it may randomly reboot, but oh well. The biggest problem I had was the new MAC addys, having both phones on the same ROM means they both have the same MAC, so they don't play nicely together trying to use my WiFi at the same time. Fortunately, I have a second wireless router set up as an access point in another room, so I connected one phone to one router and one to the other router and everything is fine.

The REAL problem I have is that I seem to have no root. Oddly, most apps that can detect if the phone is rooted say that it is, when I load them, Superuser pops up and I click allow, and then it fails out and says root required. This happens on every app that needs root access that I have tried, including wireless tethering, rom manager, root explorer, and a few more that I can't think of right now. I loaded up Z4 and it showed the phone as rooted and gave me an option to re-root, but it just hangs on executing exploit. Any ideas how I can get my root access working?

I don't know if this is the place i should ask this but i have cm7 05212011 and my camera keeps messing up it'll say foreclose or wait and whe i take my battery out and start back up its ok but this has happened more than once any suggestion on how to fix this

I have the same problem, using any application other than the built in camera app, I am presented with the Force Close/Wait/Report option and have to reboot the phone otherwise the battery drains within a few mins.
