I've had my Optimus V since February and never had any real problems!

However my wife took my phone out with her a couple of weeks ago and when I got it back the power button did not work  I finally got it to turn back on by taking the battery out and connecting to the USB to my PC. I have done this twice and I'm not really sure if the home/vol up/power button combination actually ended up turning the phone on or if the power button worked just long enough to get it on. Anyways I installed a screen lock widget and thought all was well.

Until today when I didn't make it to my charger in time and the battery died. Now I can't get it to turn on HELP???

Let the phone fully charge then try to turn it on,if no go contact VM they are good for replacing defective phones.

Be extremely careful when getting a replacement phone from VM. They have a bad habit of sending refurbished phones instead of a new one.

Still a 1 year VM warranty is not bad,my buddy has Verizon and his HTC incredible broke 5 months after purchase,he had verizon insurance, they charged him a 70 dollar deductible, and his replacement was a refurb.

Not all companies do that.

As for VM... this is at their discretion. You can get a new phone as a replacement if you push hard enough.

I am sure if you have a separate insurance on the phone and pay the premium and or deductible, but we are talking a 1 year warranty on a electronic device,no charge, you will not get a new phone,i will take a free refurb over spending money on either insurance or a brand new phone.anyday

That's your opinion.

I've dealt with this already with VM and I had no insurance on the phone. I did have the receipt (and the barcode from the cardboard paper inside) from Bestbuy but it was past 30 days. The phone they sent was brand spanking new in the hard sealed plastic just like the first one I bought from Bestbuy.

If you know how to push hard enough, without alienating the VM operator on the other end of the line, you can get what you want.

I've been living with a busted power button for a while and it doesn't bother me any, this is all I do:

Download "Screen lock widget" to lock your screen.

Download "Power controls" to have power off and reboot buttons

Or, (sometimes it works) to reboot, hold the Volume Up Button, and the Power Button at the same time for 10 seconds.

I don't think the power button does anything else.

Thanks for the tips. Will give these a try. Power button broke on my Optimus V six months ago.

If your phone is out of warranty it'll probably be less expensive to find a used phone on eBay for about $25-$40. Make sure it's got a clean ESN and has a guarantee that it's working.

After you get the replacement phone restore it from your backup and contact Virgin Mobile to transfer over the account to the replacement phone.
