Root Post-Rooting: Poor battery etc.

I rooted my phone to get WiFi tethering which worked successfully.

However, after rooting I notice my battery life is really poor (I have the Seidio huge battery).

Also, I cannot send MMS anymore.

What can be causing these problems and what are the solutions?

Are there any "must-have" things after rooting?
I am new to rooting so any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

What ROM are you using? Start by telling all of us what you have done so far.

Download titanium backup from the market and backup everything, boot into clockwork recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, reboot. Try out your mms, use the phone for a day without downloading any apps, see if battery life is better. If everything is all good, use titanium to restore everything.

If the problem returns after the restore, than one of your apps or settings is screwing things up and you have to use trial and error to figure it out.

If you still have the problem right after the reset, report back, and there is some other things to try.

you should do a NAND backup too, before you wipe all your data. Just in case. The extra backup is worth the effort.

Random reboots is not your battery. It's likely the hardware overheating. Search the forums, there's lots here and elsewhere about it. BUT - the rebooting will drain your battery from all the shut-downs, and reboots. Shouldn't effect your MMS though.

Good luck
