Hello, I am hoping someone can help me find a program that I can use to back up all my apps, contacts, music etc... similar to what iTunes does for the iPhone and iPod's. I have been searching everywhere and can not find one. I have downloaded kies from samsung and it is crap and does not save my apps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Contacts should be backed up to Google already, as long as your Contacts are Google Contacts and not Phone Contacts. You can check this by logging on to your gmail and seeing if all your contacts are there.

Your music should be on the SD card, so there really isnt any need to back that up, unless you want to backup to a PC, which you dont need an app for, just drag and drop a copy of the files onto your pc.

Apps can only truely be backed up by rooting your phone and using Titanium Backup. There are apps like MyBackup that work without root. However these only really make a "list" of your apps. They don't backup your app's data like game saves or settings.

:thinking:I have tried a few programs that do not work. I want to find a program that will basically do what iTunes does. The will copy and sync my tablet/phone to the computer so if anything goes wrong I can do a complete restore or just have copies of my apps. I also have a few apps that are installed on my tablet/phone which are no longer available on the market so by syncing to a desktop program they will always be available when necessary.

I assumed that android would have a desktop program available that would do this to keep things simple. Is there such a program out there.

Thank you for your response. I will try your suggestions. I do have one question you can maybe help me with. I do use google for my contacts but my phone will not sync them back. If I change or add a contact in google then it will send it to my phone but my phone will not send any changes and sync them with google. I am using a samsung galaxy tab 7".

Sounds exactly like you have Phone Contacts and not Google Contacts. Phone Contacts will stay on the phone, and won't sync with Gmail. Google Contacts are exactly the same, except they will sync back and forth.

You would need to change all your contacts to Google Contacts. You can do this one by one. Or, if ALL of your contacts are Phone Contacts, you can export them, delete all of them, then re-import that backup as Google Contacts.

iTunes isn't an iOS app. It's a desktop application. I'm assuming that you're not asking for an Android app but an equivalent desktop application?

There aren't that many all-in-one desktop applications that do what you're looking for and I haven't been personally impressed by any of the ones I've seen so far. I highly recommend seeking out best-of-breed options for each type of sync that you want to do.

There are, for example, many options for media sync. Obviously that won't address backups and other forms of sync...
