Help Can't move apps on home screen

Whenever I try to move an app on my home screen, it just disappears and I have to longpress to put it on. Why is this?

How are you moving them? I long press on an icon and am able to move it.

That's what I do, but it disappears after I drag it from anywhere. Help?

I had that problem as well. It turned out after a couple reboots that every time I tried to drag and drop it would create a copy of the icon that wasn't visible till after I rebooted.

Are you doing anything with folders on the home screen? When I removed folders, the problem sorted itself out for me.

I had the same problem~turns out I locked the desktop somehow
I clicked on the button that brings up the "settings,add,edit,manage apps,and "more" pop up. I clicked on "more" and another window pops up that says wallpaper and "unlock desktop". That fixed it for me. I hope this helps!

1. Force-close the launcher (Menu → Settings → Applications → Manage Applications → All → Launcher → Force stop)
2. Restart the launcher (tap on the button with the house)

Even though the original post is a year old, perhaps this may help (along with the other tips from posters above); be sure that none of your widgets have been moved to the SD card. They need to remain on the phone.
