Im going to be buying my first smartphone. Ive done alot of reading on many forums and I have some questions about the infuse and its updates.

Will the current infuse be getting an update for gingerbread, considering Rogers is supposed to be releasing this 1.4ghz GalaxyInfuse with gingerbread on it.

Will the "Galaxy Infuse" be sold in the US?

Im starting to think I mine as well just wait for the GS2 or maybe get the infuse and hope that the gs2 is released within 30 days for an exchange haha.

Thanks

I had the iPhone 4 and went to the Infuse and really liked the phone but wanted Gingerbread and the new Touch Wiz 4 so I took back the Infuse and went with the Samsung Galazy S2 and everyone loves it but is it worth the 800.00 for it .. wow.. I Dont know honestly there is about 5 things on it that doesnt work but wow the phone is a nice phone.. I just wish it had the 4 1/2in screen on it.. that is NICE..

Personally I love the size of the infuse. I have big fat fingers and the keyboard on my iPhone was too small. This phone fits comfortably in my pocket(although I don't wear tight pants), and is really easy to find in a bag or purse. I don't know anything about the galaxy s2, but I would highly recommend the infuse. I got it for a good deal, and if you go to Amazon and check the price, you can then go to an at&t store and they will match it. If you're a good haggler they might even throw in a new case. It really comes down to what do you want your smartphone for? I have mine for gaming/movies and its perfect for that. Its almost a pocket sized tablet. I love it.

P.s. oh yeah and as far as updates go, we've received one minor update, not gingerbread though. There has been a lot of speculation about it getting gingerbread, and with the other infuse being sold stock with GB, it will most likely happen.

Interesting...when I asked AT&T why I should spend twice as much buying the Infuse there ($199) vs. buying it at Best Buy ($99), they said nothing about price-matching. After getting a (rather lame) response of "Well, we get it all set up for you so you leave with your phone exactly how you want it," I even asked if they would price match and was told that they do not.

I'm not calling you a liar but how have you managed to get them to match? I'd like to buy it at AT&T since it's closer. I can't justify the extra $100 though.

I printed up the page from Amazon, brought it in and asked them what motivation they could give me to buy it at at&t. He matched the price and threw in a case. I'm pretty sure they get commission so if your salesman isn't doing everything he can to keep you in the store then he's an awful salesman. Come back later and try a different at&t Rep. If they wont match it just get it from wherever you can get it cheaper. At&t doesn't "set-up'' anything that you can't do yourself! Good luck!

They matched my price of $149 at BB. I just asked to speak to a manager and explain that BB sets up your phone and walks you through getting to know it. If they won't match it then, walk out the door and go to BB.

Well I had both first the infuse and took it back to get the Samsung Galaxy S2 (unlocked) and I had it about 4 days.. actually maybe 7 days.. But I sent it back yesterday.. to many issues with the speeds here in Indiana with att and also I didnt like that HBO Go app didnt work and also didnt like the fact that some of the links didnt work in the hubs.. But that is just me.. I also paid 800 for the phone and 169.00 for a warranty.. I also really love the infuse screen size.. I know that it is only .2 difference but to me that makes a difference and everything works on the infuse so far.. and yes HBO Go works.. So I will use this phone for a month or so and if I dont like it take it back for 600.00 and then go back to the Samsung Galazy S2 and just put up with the little bugs...

Most of those guys have no clue on how to set up the phone the way u want it. I went into an AT&T store the other day and asked when is the galaxy s2 coming out. He told me soon cause sprint just released it. I asked when is 2.3 coming out for the infuse. He told me, I believe it's coming out real soon.

I'm tempted to get this phone but waiting til next month on an actual release date for the S2. Of nothing happens then the "BIG CAPTIVATE" is what I'll be getting. That or the LG thrill 4G if they can fix the battery life problem.

After owning the infuse for a month I can recommend it without hesitation. I am a heavy user of my phone and honestly do not feel like the dual core would change my user experience in any way. But shrinking my screen to 4.3 would a little. I'm coming from the evo 4g and can honestly say I don't miss it at all. The screen is amazing. The camera and video camera are really impressive. Overall I'm very happy with this phone. It may not be the spec beast if the galaxy s2 but it is a really great phone.

I have a quesiton.. I have bought the SGS2 from 2 different vendors (thinking one of the phones was bad) I got them both home and found that in Indiana (even in Indy) that the speeds are nothing... NOTHING compared to the infuse.. I called the 2 different venders and they BOT told me that the phone isnt going to be fast on the USA ATT Network but the phone has everythign anyone would want.. I said WHAT.. They said it is because it isnt a 4G phone at all plus it doesnt play well with H+ at all in the states and recommended I stick with the Infuse.. I checked with ohters and we changed all the settings on the phones to make them as fast as I could and in my town I cant get but maybe 1 1/2 down maybe 2 at the most.. But look at this , look at what I get with the infuse almost EVERY TIME I run it.. WOW can anyone answer this.. I might like the phone when it actually is sold by ATT in the states because then it is meant to work here..

Infuse - 6963 down - 1134 up
SGS2 - 1599 down - 1095 up

well im going to make up my mind soon. I have a captivate so it's pretty much the same minus the upgraded screen and processor. im also hoping samsung doesn't drop the ball on 2.3. Anyone know if touchwiz 4.0 is in the future?

I wish Samsung or att would comment on touchwiz 4.0 coming or not. Im just not sure we will ever have an official release. And I don't think it will be Samsung that keeps us from having it. It seems like US carriers stagger their updates and new product releases based on there persuit of the all mighty dollar. Look at how long the galaxy s updates took in the US. It wasn't samsungs fault. It was the us carriers. Coming from HTC evo sense ui to touchwiz I am pretty happy with touchwiz. I.thought I would hate it. But its actually pretty nice. But I'd like to see 4.0 make it even better.
