Droid X Gingerbread Patch News

Today while I was at the Verizon store getting my Droid X fixed. (Because the program Zedge is known as malicious to Verizon, and it messed my phone up. I'd have my keypad mess up and slowness.) The verizon sales lady told me to keep a look out for the patch for Gingerbread because people have had issues with it.

Just thought I'd share those two things.
1. Avoid Zedge like the plague.
2. Gingerbread patch is on it's way apparently. (If you believe the sales lady haha)

I work at a Verizon store, and I can assure you at MY store we were never trained to blame an app for anything.

That being said, I could see a rep perhaps discouraging the use of zedge in hopes to steer you to the vCast paid alternative?

Also, I use zedge frequently and I have zero problems with it. Kinda harsh to throw an app under the bus like that and scare potential new users based on no evidence

I do NOT work at a VZW store and agree 100% with you. I am a bit taken back by some people throwing the app under the bus but WOW...........what attitudes some folks have about VZW reps. They are sales people who try and determine what type of phone best suits the customers needs. They sell all kinds of phones. They are not devs or experts when it comes to what WE do with our phones and can not possibly know of all apps.
I use Zedge and have zero issues also. When we make comments about VZW reps.............we should perhaps single out a certain rep and NOT group them all together.................

I went to the Verizon store today and they told me the same thing. They asked me to delete all the apps and then do a factory data wipe. and then install one by one to see if any would trigger the problems i was having. Instead i just asked for a new phone since i thought i was under warranty. Go to find out since i bought this DX off of a friend that they could not help me unless i make an insurance claim on it. WTF, they never told me about when i went to get it activated and i still am paying on the extended warranty.

Don't shoot the messenger, the op was just relaying info he was told.
Had OP browsed this forum for 30 seconds, he would have found several threads related to the impending update. And Zedge is one of the highest rated and most used apps on the Market. Common sense says it isn't some evil app out to get all Android users.

Had the forum members been a little more respectful of what I was relaying, then maybe you wouldn't have been singled out.

My cousin had the same issue with her phone, which is now gone. Just because the majority rule in this thread didn't have the issue does not mean it does not exist.

And I did search, thanks.

The last time I was in a Verizon store was because the Gallery stopped opening. The first two things the rep blamed were apps. Then he wanted me to download an app killer. Then do a factory reset. I finally found the solution in this forum (and it had nothing to do with any of the rep's suggestions).
