Back to the main question....gingerbread?

Ok so yes the new update came out and the reboot problem and data drops were fixed. But still, what happened to the Gingerbread update being released at the end of the Q2? Now don't get me wrong I'm not selfish. The fact that we at least got an update and that a couple problems were fixed is great. But still, battery problems are killing me at work, and also gingerbread is incredible. I'm still not interested in rooting, just not for me. So, what do you got for me bros.

My guess would be that we'll be seeing it soon. I think Verizon and HTC wanted to make sure that problems the phone was having were addressed by the latest update (which they appear to be for the majority) before moving forward with GB.

well being new to android....i've never heard of ice cream haha. However i just like the gingerbread look and i don't like being practically cheating out of something that was promised. It's not really satisfaction. It's....i don't know how to describe it.

I think that we will see it soon as well....... I think it will come bundled with Skype Video chat as well as some type of Google video chat alternative.

Verizon just reformed their data packages for when Skype goes mainstream on mobile phones and when the Bionic and Galaxy S2 (Function) hit the shelves... at least thats what I keep telling myself.

Says who? At Google IO it was stated that phones would be supported for updates for 18 months as long as the hardware could handle the software. HTC is one of the partners which agreed to this as did Verizon.

What Features, exactly, are you looking forward to in Gingerbread?

I only ask because I think most people asking for GB have no idea but just want the Latest "thing".

Not trying to call you out at all, but just curios.

Oh, and regarding how GB Looks, it doesn't matter since HTC puts Sense over it and it will look almost identical to how your phone looks now (barring a few minor cosmetic changes)

I'm personally looking forward to GB in the hopes it improves battery life...that's about it, but thats a big one for me. Just saw that GB is rolling out to the dinc2...this is kind of a slap in the face as the the TB came out first and was supposed to be Verizon's flagship 4G phone. It seems like its now playing at least 2nd or 3rd fiddle on level of importance with Verizon. very disappointing that the dinc2 is getting it first...

• Enhanced support for native code

• Enhanced support for native code - ???... wouldn't Sense negate this too?
• Improved power management and application control - Other than SIP... This is probably the best new feature that we would benefit from... but will Sense affect this?

I have a Droid X that recently received Gingerbread. For me, it was a nice improvement over Froyo for several reasons:

1) Improved look. Motorola did a great job with the overall look and icons. New launcher, different icons, different colors, etc.
2) Smoother interface. It definitely scrolls much smoother through the home screens and the launcher.
3) Copy/Paste functionality is definitely improved from Froyo
4) Different keyboard. I like the new one better and more than the one that comes with the Thunderbolt.
5) Less bloat and/or improved bloat. The Motoblur stuff is actually liked now by many X users

I'm hoping to see these improvements on the Thunderbolt as well.
