Help need data recovery help

First off, I hope this is in the right place, and if not, I'm sorry.

Here's my situation:

My wife's cousin was playing around with my phone (Xperia X10a), and it got locked out. This is not normally an issue, as it just requires my google info to log back in. The problem, however, is that it was rejecting my password for some reason. I even performed a password re-set via google, and it continued to reject it.

I logged in to their tech support chat line, and was given instructions on how to do a software update to my phone. I didn't read the instructions, and didn't realize it would erase all my data. This is not a huge deal, but the big problem is that it erased all of my contacts. This is a sever problem as I have hundreds of business contacts from across the world on this phone. I must get them back. There really is no way I can manage without getting them back. Tech support said they are not responsible for the data loss, which is understandable, but I'm not looking to find who's responsible. I'm looking for someone who's willing to spend some time with me and recover this info. Cost is not an issue, but I'm currently in China, and will be for the next year or so, so shipment of the phone is the only potential problem.

I will be extremely grateful to anyone who can fix this, and have no problem sending some cash for their time via paypal, or however.

Confirm that you never did a backup.

On a computer login to gmail using the account you setup on the phone and check your contacts. Make sure none of them are backed up. This will also help you confirm your password. When you confirm your password and username....you should be able to login on the phone using the name and password.

Or on the phone try logging into it using no password at all....password as blank/null.

Thank you for the information, however, I have no backups on google for my phone contacts. What I'm ultimately attempting to do here is turn back time on my phone, and set it to exactly how it was a week ago. If it is still locked, I will continue to search for further options at the that time.

It's been a few days with no luck. Does anyone else have any suggestions? I'm really in a bind here, and any help is appreciated.

I realize this doesn't help your current situation, however you should have your contacts synced with your google account. That way if you flash/format or break the phone, your contacts are still stored in 'the cloud' for later retrieval.

As for recovering them, I'm at a loss. If you knew where to look, you could try some sort of Root Explorer app to view the contents of the phone and see if you can find the old phonebook/contact info, but this is purely a guess... good luck.
