Paranoia strikes deep...

My Wife has brought something to my attention, and it's totally true. We were at a local retailer yesterday buying a third case for my Evo3D and she laughed and said "You are paranoid you're going to break that phone."...

Suddenly I realized: I have Insurance, an Extended Warranty, an OtterBox Commuter, a Zagg InvisibleShield, an underlying Microfiber pouch wrapped in a Microfiber cleaning cloth, then I put all of that inside a larger padded Dynex neoprene flip carrier....

How much is too much? I think I might have a problem... :p

I had a Palm Pre for nearly two years and carried it "naked" all the time... Not sure why I'm so protective of my Evo.

I think you have protected your phone more than most people protect their children.

Meanwhile, I'm just using a phantomskinz screen/camera protector. I'll get a kickstand case when I find one I like, but mostly for the kickstand. Insurance is nice, but you have to pay a deductible to claim insurance. Having a case/screen protector on top of that just makes sense.

LOL, yes you have a problem. What would funny is since you went through all this to protect it but you end up dropping it in the toilet/fishtank/puddle of water, in which case not of that protection will help you. LOL.

The $100 deductable is pretty lame too...If anything happens to the phone I'll have to pay more to get it fixed than what I payed for the phone ($40)...

The posts I deleted promote cellphone insurance fraud or quote it. Obviously that's forbidden here. Warnings issued. Further promotion of it will result in ban. Thank you.

On a personal note, what have we come to as a people? Intentionally destroying your phone to get a new one? Don't folks know that insurance fraud spreads costs to the rest of us? You commit fraud and your neighbor ends up paying for it.

Ultimately, I believe this. When you cheat others, you only cheat yourself (character).
Let's think about this and learn from it going forward, ok?

PS: This discussion (not this thread) is closed. If it keeps going, please report it, and we'll close the thread.

PSS: I'd be really surprised if I get flack in PM box because of this. However, my door's always open, if anyone wants to discuss it.

Sincerely,
Steven

Lol, I hear ya. I think I may have a nervous breakdown waiting on this Ballistic case. I do have insurance but its still a $100.00 deductible. I bought a cheap case from Ebay to hold me over.

My is naked as well and still in mint condition but I do feel as If the phone is living on borrowed time if I don't suit it up with something soon.

Mine is naked too......starting to show some wear and tear from the occasional drop but otherwise it's still doing fairly well (a year later). The only protection I have for it is that it's my third lung (per my family) so its never really that far from me to have much happen.

.......

Not related to the actual topic but I agree with you!!

Nah, man. I think I get where you're at here.

After all, look at all it has and does out of the box:

Cutting edge tech with Dual cores and a gig of ram
Constant contact with loved ones
Internet connection
Apps to do damn near anything
Multimedia center connection to TV/computer
Calender/alarms/office documents
Weather notices so you remember the umbrella or just want to stay home
Flashlight (recently added) so you can find the fuse box if power goes out
Can automate home with the right app and home setup
Can take you anywhere via GPS or lead you back home
Etc, etc, etc

I really could go on, but the point is that I feel the same way. I never had a case for my MyTouch 3G, but this one gets protected, no doubt about it.

I get that it is just a piece of tech, but the fact that it connects me with almost everyone, can get me to almost everything and can show me so many new things is amazing. It really blows my mind sometimes when I think back on my first computer, the C64.

So, yeah...

Long story short, just because you may feel paranoid, doesn't mean you aren't right to protect it :) I know I sure do.

Otterbox dost make some smexy cases. I think most phones look better without, but I'm just too paranoid; the one time you drop them without is the one time you'll be filing an insurance claim. Unless you drop them from a sitting position, on to a bed.

I would have said you're not paranoid, just cautious, but you have the extended warranty. So now you're either paranoid or you just have money to burn, I'm not sure.
