Root Just a thank you

I finally rooted my phone today and installed the nightly cm7. I found all the information I needed on this forum! I feel like I have a new phone again!!!

CM7 and MIUI are my faves. Both can use Chad's kernel. When you want to. I suggest you flash it. It is excellent.

Both are gingerbread. Go to xda and look at them. CM7 uses ADW launcher. MIUI has there own launcher. You can use any launcher on any of them.

CM7 is fantastic. I used launcher pro with it. It has nightly releases kinda like alpha builds. They are very stable. They also have stable builds. I have nothing bad to say about it.

MIUI is a whole new experience. It is easier to change every aspect of your theme. It almost has an iPhone look if you want but changing everything about your theme is so easy. This is a rom developed in China and translated for us. Comes out weekly.

I use Chad's kernel with each.

Second, I am trying to root my friends phone, I rooted mine about a year ago and a lot has changed since then. Can you link me to the guide you used to root your phone?

I would bet he used the sticky thread in this very forum. Just a guess. Using unrevoked it is very easy.

Used those links. Almost forgot about google apps when I first flashed but then I just googled them and flashed them in too. I did end up buying the full version of Titanium Backup. So much easier that way!

Used those links. Almost forgot about google apps when I first flashed but then I just googled them and flashed them in too. I did end up buying the full version of Titanium Backup. So much easier that way!

Tinanium is OK. I suggest not restoring data from titanium except when needed. MIUI has a backup app that is much better in my opinion.

I grabbed Chad's kernel and now my screen goes dim on and off. Like I'll be replying to a text and get one word typed and it goes about 50% dim then i type another word and it gets bright again. How do i stop this?

well he went away on vacation for 10 days and I have a big exam next week followed by a vacation of my own, but as of today his phone is still not rooted..

unrevoked won't work on my Mac and we are having issues installing the drivers on his PC..

I used my old windows xp machine for the root. http://androidforums.com/incredible...ivers-adb-bootloader-disk-drive-htc-sync.html Followed the instructions there and it worked great.

I had problems too until I went in and.found out there were 2 HTC Sync installed and I only removed 1. Once I removed other .... worked like a charm
